WKORV Room location preference

This year we decided to rent our 1br week that was booked exactly 12 months ago for a stay beginning 2-1-25. Our request a year ago was for building 3 - highest floor, closest to the ocean. Last month we changed only the name on the reservation to that of the renter. When the renter checked in Saturday he received a room in building 3 - 2nd floor over Auntie's restaurant, with an ocean view, but about as far away from the ocean as you can get and still have an OV. I' have heard that if you change the initial reservation in any way after the initial booking you will be "rebooked" and lose your place in line in regards to your "room location preference request". Does anyone know if this is true and maybe accounts for original requests not being honored? Thanks so much.

Not true - you just use the online function for a "special request," which has noting to do with rebooking.

At WKORV S, we always request bldg 2, high floor, closest to ocean 12 months out at midnight EST for 1-bedroom. Last October, we got bldg 2, 6th floor and close to ocean. This January, we got bldg 2, 2nd floor and middle of the bldg; dissapointed with the room assignment. The bad part was that the kitchen sink cabinet smells rotten seafood, housekeeping was unable to get rid of the smell. The microwave and refrigerator had problems and maintenance fixed them promptly.
