Hello,
My father recently gifted me his even year WORVN. He originally purchased it directly from the developer. It posted to my Dashboard today, however, it is listed as 7 days, with no Staroptions listed and the VSN member sections says, "no". We also own an odd year at the same resort and it is listed with Staroptions, VSN Member says Yes and VSN Season says Platinum Plus.
Any advice? Do you think it will just take a few days to update or should I call?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Did you provide documentation to the title office to prove that this is a family transfer?

I would give it a few days and see if it updates on its own. It seems that everything doesn’t happen all at once when the transfer happens.

Yes. On the external change transfer form provided by LT transfer it's listed as Parents to Daughter and son-in-law.

It's been several years, but when I bought Kierland weeks, I remember at least one week came across the same way as not having access to the VSN. I think it probably would have gotten worked out had I not done anything, but I called and it got fixed the next day. Like others have suggested....give it a few days, and call.

Since it's a gift from your father (I assume a developer purchase, or a resale purchase prior to the Abound system rollout). You should also have the ability to convert to Abound points. I think you'll find that's a pretty good value.

We took over a Vistana SVR unit from my parents last year - they purchased developer so it was in VSN.

Initially the week just showed up as not being in VSN (or II) without intervention. After a few days the VSN status changed and the SO were included in our totals. We also had the option to elect in Abound. The only thing we had to do was fill out a form to enroll the week in interval (you won’t have that since it’s a mandatory week).

As others have recommended, give it a few days. I’m sure it will self-correct. If not, give them a call.

Thanks all. My dashboard updated today and now it lists the Options, and the VSN status changed. I am wondering if since we own the EOY Even and Odd now, if they will combine it into one unit. I believe the maintenance fees would be lower if I owned a 2 bedroom every year instead of one EOY Even and one EOY Odd. With them split, I believe the MF will be about $2100 each, but if it were one every year 2 bedroom, it looks like they would be $3800. I'd love to hear if anyone has been successful combining two EOY or if there would be any advantage to keeping them separate.

No, they won't combine, and no, your MFs wouldn't be any lower if they did. But going forward you should only have to pay one "Club Dues" per year, instead of the two that were being paid before (yours and your fathers.) You've always had to pay the club dues every year even when you have an EOY ownership.

This is correct. If you take out the club dues you’ll see that there is a very small premium for having two EoY units. Your club fee may go up if you are in a higher OBL, but that will be minimal - definitely not $400 difference.

We own an annual and an EOY at WKORVN and they are essentially the same MF when you double the EOY fees.

I thought I recall some properties having like a $30 premium added to EOY maintenance fees. So one with two EOY would be paying $60 more. I know that premium isn't always the case as we pay exactly half the annual price for our SVV EOY 1BR, but I recall Arizona properties having a premium on EOY. Then there is SDO that pays more when you own a large and a small 1BR separately vs. just owning a 2BR.

I thought that there was a premium on MVC EOY units but not on Vistana. That’s my recollection but I could be mistaken. If there is a premium it’s very small.

The only premium that I am aware of on MVC EOY is in how they bill them from the start. Marriott bills the first MF on the use year then the second half the following (off year). Vistana starts out by billing the first half in the year prior to use and the second half on the use year. When maintenance fees are rising (which they almost always do), it means a Marriott owner is paying slightly more for their use than an EOY user would for the same use year.

I just remember when we were starting to look into buying Vistana a little over a decade ago that people would talk about an extra $30 premium on EOY weeks. I tried looking in the MF database and the only resort where I can find something was SDO which looked like $40. Perhaps many people owned SDO at the time and equated those fees as normal, which we know they aren't given the anomalies in how they bill 1BR owners vs 2BR owners.

We own a few EOYs at WKORN. They have a total of $40.02 premium over each EY.

Two EOYs combined are $40.02 over 1 EY.
When you look at your bill, is there some kinds of line item on there that indicates a $20 difference on each?

If Hawaii - probably a tax involved if EOY fee involved

Other than property tax, is there a tax charged on the actual maintenance fees? I thought that only applied to the Club and/or VSN Fee?

Depends if the EOY is considered a Fee or part of HOA-budget MFs. It may be a Fee. I wonder how the various HOA levels deal with it.
The only comparator would ve to a non-HI that charges more for EOY ownership.
The HI tax is 4%, so the EOY fee would be $38.48 if tax is charged.
The budget should show revenues due to EOY cost.
