The Mar Azul lists a poolside snack bar as the only onsite dining. How are the nearby choices for restaurants?

We usually eat out on vacation, we like to have brunch and then go out for dinner in the evening. Traveling with my husband and two daughters, 8 and 12 yrs old.
I speak a little spanish, no one else does.

What is your impression of Mar Azul and the general area? We have been to Acapulco several times before, staying at the Mayan Palace/GM and at the Crowne Plaza hotel.
From photos, I see the Mar Azul is just down the street from the Crowne Plaza, so I know its in the busy downtown non- tourist section. I see its a smaller property.

I would like to visit Acapulco again, but I'd like to know more about the restaurant situation and the resort itself. I know anything will be a letdown after the MP, but how much so?

I stayed at the Mar Azul quite a few years ago. I hope my information is not out of date. We liked the Mar Azul very much, although no one would call it a luxury resort. It cannot be compared with the Grand Mayan. It's right on a swimable beach and only a block or two from the shopping/restaurant area. There were many restaurants within easy walking distance to choose from. The area was more of a Mexican resort than a resort for US tourists. Many of the vacationers at the Mar Azul were Mexican families. Using his high school Spanish, my son made friends with a girl from Mexico city and her family. The staff at the resort spoke English very well, but not everyone in the shops and restaurants did. We ate out for dinner every evening and got by fine with very little understanding of Spanish. I enjoyed our stay at the Mar Azul and in Acupulco very much. I felt as though I was really in Mexico.

Judy, I can't believe you were there too!

We'll be there in 2 weeks for 2 weeksin a 2 BD, really looking forward to it - we like the smaller resorts.

More later

Hi,
I have been going to Mar Azul for over 20 years. The staff is very friendly, helpful and will do what ever they can to accommodate you.

They will tell you of great places to eat. There also is comment book in each room, follow the advice of previous visitors.

Will be back again in 2 weeks. It is like going home. I am sure you and your family will enjoy.

:)
