I was able to book 6 nights at Residences NYC for late August check in... However, the HGVC website only indicates this location "resuming operation TBD". Does anyone know the details? I am thinking to switch to W57 location...

Here’s the thread from earlier this month

The opening has moved many times. Personally I think this date is likely to stick. It’s all based on the hotel opening.

Sounds like the reopening target of Aug 1st is not guarantee... I probably should change my reservation to W57. thanks!

They may move you automatically to 57th street. They moved us three times and because we did not own 57th street. We called 57th street telling them our reservation to residence was moved to them by HGV and tried to see if we can access owners lounge since we own residence and are elite premier. They said NO. So we cancelled. Last year, we decide to buy a 57th street resale just for access the owners lounge. Now we are owner and will be visiting in July to 57th street.

Frankly, it's outrageous that they won't let you use the Owner's Lounge under the circumstances. We own HCNY, and I don't consider being put into W57th is in any way equivalent to our own property. And to not let you use the Owner's Lounge when that's part of our maintenance fees for our still-closed resort is not to bright on their part.

I think that the lounge use issue may be unreasonable. As to the property comparison that is, of course, very personal. We bought HCNY some time ago. After using it for a while, we found it "just OK," especially the continually-slow elevators and poor lounge (which as since been improved). We sold it and bought W. 57th. Even after visiting the new HCNY/Residences lounge, we find W. 57th to be the considerably better product. But they are very different in terms of crowds and experience, and different folks like different things.

As a born-and-bred New York, the last thing I want is the crowds of the Hilton Midtown for my TS experience.

Cheers.

I hear you, and I understand that a lot of owners like W. 57th better. We've owned at HCNY forever, and have stayed at W. 57th as well. I agree that HCNY has improved their lounge, and it's especially a lot better and a LOT less crowded since they've stopped letting traders into the lounge. That being said, I wouldn't object to them letting W. 57th traders into the lounge if the circumstances were reversed. One reason I like HCNY better is that the one bedroom units are considerably larger than W 57th, and now that we're retired we tend to stay a week at a time so the one bedroom is great. Now if they could just do something about those slow elevators! Whichever property one likes better, it's great to have the city opening up again.

It said midtown Hilton will open, NY residence club would open by August 1st 2021. Now we own three NYC Hilton club- HCNY, NY residence club, 57th street. We went to all the lounges. We like the HCNY the most. They treat us as family just return home. The service is superb. Dinner happy hours has new items each day. We like scallops and crab cake the most. We love the home made cookies available at lounge all days. 2nd is 57th street, the food has different variety even some are cheesy. The Residence Club is ok. You don’t feel at home. Fewer food choices at the Residence Club.

One big gap for food ar W. 57th is that there's no kitchen, so the food comes from outside. I love the space, but the food is, truly, just OK. The wine is not bad for lower-end stuff.

Cheers.

Laughing at the wine is not bad for lower-end stuff. Same at HCNY. When we first bought there, it was a full bar. A few years later they changed to just wine and beer. Eventually the wine degraded to pretty much just junk. All the owners complained, and now the wine is, as you say, not bad for lower-end stuff.

Residence in NYC will be opened by September 1st, 2021.

I included the Residences in my post on HCNY update. Seems unfortunate that we have to hear about the extension of closure until 9/1 by calling (or by having our reservations canceled). I received no formal email or letter from HGHVC about this at all, has anyone received any formal communication from management about the extended closure??

We were in 57th street last week. Julius, NYC residence Club manager is working in 57th street now. I asked him when would Residence club and HCNY opened. He said definitely by September 1st. They are working on it already. It is a big place and lots of preparation before opening.
