Why do you like timesharing?

What I like about timesharing

1. I can fix convenient, healthy meals in a reasonably well-equipped kitchen rather than paying for expensive, high-calorie, food with low nutritional value.

2. Privacy - adults have their own bedroom, kids sleep in living room or their own room.

3. Cost is still much less than most condo rentals (except for "excess" timeshare inventory)

4. We sometimes end up going to great resorts we'd never heard of but exchanged into because they were available

5. Most resorts have good recreational facilities, organized activities, etc.

Downside:

Not good for travel to most large cities.
Not good for travel to (most) small towns in rural areas (for genealogy trips)

We rarely took vacations before timesharing, unless it was to visit friends or relatives. We did one trip, which was business related, to Hawaii and knew we had to go back. We bought a timeshare for that expressed purpose. We got lucky with the purchase so we actually are able to use it to trade into Hawaii. Loved it so much we bought a timeshare in Hawaii, so we could stay even longer. Now we go for 3 weeks every other year.

We like having that vacation to look forward to. It makes those long days at work seem like there is a reward at the end.

We will go on vacation. We put too much time and effort into the planning in getting the exchanges and airfare to NOT go.

We like having a kitchen. We are both real big on having ice in our drinks, and the ability to put a water bottle in the freezer so the water gets really cold for hiking. The hotel mini fridges can't keep the ice frozen or chill the water enough for our taste.

We like having the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathroom. Just like at home I can confine the teenager mess to a place where I can shut the door.

Along those same lines I like that my son can sleep in, or stay up watching TV, whichever meets his choice. He doesn't keep us up and we don't keep him up.

I like the opportunity to ocassionally grab a girlfriend and go away for some girl time, but still have the space to get some quite time for myself without offending my friend(s)

We like that we can prepay for almost everything before we get there, so there aren't huge credit card bills when we get home -okay, there still are because we really enjoy doing things, but at least there is no hotel bill. We can also keep the cost down by using the kitchen and making all breakfasts and most lunches and dinners.

We like knowing, where return to our home resort, or revisit a resort again, that we will know what we are getting. Both in size and quality. We like spreading out.

We like having laundry facilities in our room so we can pack lighter, and not have to go home and immediately do laundry.

We like making all our friends jealous who can't understand how we get to leave for 3 weeks and spend time hiking and swimming while they have to stay with relatives or in hotels.

Even though we don't travel to other places we like having the opportunity to do so, should we pursue this in the future.

We like reading everything on Tug and then being able to sound smart and informed when people talk about what a rip off timeshares are. Usually before the end of the conversation they are writing down the Tug website.

I agree, what's not to like about timesharing?:cheer:
