Why are Swiss Chocolates the Best in the World? The Answer Will Surprise You ): - by Siddhartha Joshi / The Wanderer/ sid-thewanderer.com

"For all of us chocolate lovers, Swiss Chocolates remain the gold standard for the best of the lot. But a question that has always intrigued me is, ‘Why are Swiss chocolates the best in the world?’

I was recently in Switzerland to take part on Swiss Made Grand Tour, and so came the wonderful opportunity to find out the answer personally in the Mecca of Chocolate itself. And what a discovery it was!..."

I've had Swiss chocolate, in Switzerland, and imho, it is not the best. For me, it comes from Mexico.

Sort of like fine champagne. The best doesn't come from France, but from California, thanks ;)

Marketing is a powerful tool. Don't get me started on the Cuban cigar fallacy.

I think the best chocolate comes right from here in Hudson Valley NY- Newburgh- Commodores chocolate. He buys from Belgium.

I love Hershey.
Have tried chocolates all over the world including Switzerland and to me there is nothing as yummy as a Hershey's special dark chocolate bar. :D

San Francisco has some amazing boutique chocolate makers, but if you ask me Belgium beat them all hands down

Belgian Chocolates!
The last time I was in Europe, I brought back a large bag full of 'em.
My jaw dropped when the airport screener told me he'd have to confiscate them.
But then he said, "Just kidding."

Yep, the only thing better is Hershey's dark chocolate with almonds.

We were in Bruges in July. I'm not even a big fan of chocolate. Yes my sister says it's un-American. But yes Belgian was absolutely incredible. Of all the fancy chocolate my daughter's favorite was one that convincingly look like a rusty old wrench.

I prefer Belgium chocolate. I also realy enjoy the chocolate made by a company in Barbados called Agapey Chocolate. They process the cacao in their factory and
"allow the long traditional process of chocolatiering to create the exceptional taste and smoothness without having to add flavoring such as vanilla or emulsifiers such as soy lethicin. Single source. From bean to bar."
Most chocolate bars sold here in Canada, like Cadbury and Hershey, and even Lindt use too much sugar, usually somewhere in the vicinity of 21g of sugar per bar, while Agapey uses somewhere around 14g. Chocolate bars from Grenada are also excellent.

Maybe not the best - But Organic

I'm always looking for a good price and organic products when possible and for my chocolate I've found GREEN & BLACK'S. They have different flavors but I prefer the plain dark chocolate 85%. And it's much creamier than the other dark chocolates I've found at a reasonable price and it's organic.

Otherwise if I'm at the mall, I can't resist SEE'S chocolates (west coast only).

Hershey's tastes like the bile that you bring up after your stomach has fully emptied from vomiting repeatedly (I'm not alone in that sentiment apparently!)

Sorry but American chocolate is horrendous however each to their own. I prefer Belgian although the Swiss do make some fine chocolate.
