Wyndham Grand Desert is my prefered resort in Vegas. I think it has a beter location then Desert Blue and less points are needed to book a resevation. Grand Desert also has some of the most helpfull and best people working at it. As with any resort stay away from the sales presentation.

Agree, Grand Desert for that size of group. Is that a Packer Logo? Wisconsin has great summers. Winters suck, but the summers are great, especially in the northeast. Love Door County.

The 2 major choices are Desert Blue and Grand Desert. In my mind if you have vehicles Desert Blue is fine. Grand Desert is much more walkable to the strip, approximately 2 long blocks. Desert Blue is on the other side of I-15.

My favorite is Grand desert, although I have recently stayed at Club Wyndham Tropicana which was nice, and I just stayed this past week at Desert Rose, which is a Shell Vacations property near the strip (located right behind Tropicana Hotel, and Oyo hotel.) Really liked that one, as it's easy to get in and out of, close to the strip, and they have a really nice pool, with a bar, and snack bar type thing by the pool!! In my opinion, Desert Blue is way too many points, especially for it's location. Hope this helps

Desert blue is more points and I also feel its not worth the additional points. Grand Desert is probably the best location and has one of the best staffs in the industry.

Agree with most comments above - but if it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, consider
Desert Blue *because* *of* the isolation. It's right next door to Penn&Teller and
the Voodoo Steakhouse at The Rio. And *some* of us have managed the entire
1.2 mile walk under the freeway to The Strip:

Nice set of pools, too. Not too many kids when we've been there.

Just got back and stayed at both Grand Desert and Blue last week. Everything above is accurate......additional thoughts:

Grand Desert -
* has a complimentary shuttle to Harrahs
* 2-3 block walk to the strip
* several nice pools but the way the buildings are laid out direct sunlight is often blocked (I was thankful for that with 100+ temps)
* $10 dollar shuttle to the grocery store (dollar amount approximate). Might have been $15 to Wal-mart.

Desert Blue -
* complimentary shuttle to Ceaser's (front side facing the strip).
* as noted above- a long walk to the Strip. I personally would not walk it.
* A nice pool area with much more direct sunlight
* I don't recall specifics around additional shuttle services to a grocery store or other areas.
* As noted above- an easy walk to RIO.

Final decision- I preferred Grand Desert only because I could walk to the strip easily. We used a lot of ubers which are readily accessible at both.

Caesars / Harrahs company used to have a free shuttle that ran 24x7 from Caesars to the Rio because it was so isolated off the strip. I believe they stopped it several years ago because the last time I went in 2018, it was not running. Supposedly Caesars company was tired of subsidizing people going to the Gold Coast which is across the street from the Rio. My memory recollects about half the people riding the shuttle were actually going to Gold Coast (cheap casino run by the "Station" company IIRC)

If this shuttle still existed, you could use it too to get to Desert Blue.

Rio has really gone down hill too, but that's another story.

I was able to pick up a 4BR Presidential at Blue Desert within 60 days of checkin for a 'brothers trip' my husband took. Because of the higher points, there seemed to be better availability. They had it Sunday-Thursday nights. The only thing on Friday night was a 3 bedroom and they didn't stay Saturday night. So being a little flexible, they got a really nice room for a really good deal.

Thanks for all of the input. Sounds like grand dessert might best fit our needs.

Yes it’s a packer logo! WI is a great place to live about 6/7 mo of the year. Winter is getting less tolerable as I get older. Door county is beautiful.

Thanks for all of the replies! It sounds like grand desert might best for our needs:)

Is there any advantage to booking a 2 bedroom presidential vs a regular 2 bedroom deluxe at Grand Desert?

I see this is a couple weeks old but agree with Grand Desert choice. I just want to add that from Desert Blue you can walk to a large oriental grocery store in oposite direction from the strip. Mostly foods you can recognize but quite a few you cannot.

Is it easy to rent a car for a day from either resort?

Does the shuttle to the grocery store from the Wyndham Grand Desert just go one time during the day or are there multiple trips? And does anyone know what time the shuttle goes to the store?

Like I always tell people, it's best to call the resort directly so you can get the answer.
