Which resorts have a mineral pool?

Just came back from a short stay at Fairway Villas (NJ)

The adult pool is a mineral pool (non-chlorinated and left the skin feeling nice and smooth.)

Are there any other resorts that have one of those? or a pool that is non-chlorinated? Just curious - I like the non-chlorinated pools...first time in a mineral pool but have been in salt ones (those are getting popular around where I live)

Thanks!

I have not stayed there yet but I understand that Marriott's Marco Island Beach Resort opened a mineral pool last year.
Not sure if any of the Marriott MDC resorts in Palm Springs have them but many other resorts and hotels there do.

I think all the Marriott pools in Hilton Head are salt. I'm sure about Surfwatch.

I wish all would go that way. They are cheaper to run and way better for your skin, body and clothing

Ocean pointe pool has salt water as well. I just came back from crystal shores and the kids pool was NOT salt water, didn't check the adult pools, spent the days in the ocean.

Last Spring at OP, we used the general-population pool - and one day, were told afterwards that a "baby accident" in the pool required them to put shock treatment in - and then proclaim the pool fit for use again. We had NO IDEA about all of this - until the next day, when skin started PEELING off us! Hideous! We were never big "pool people" - always liked the ocean better - but a knee surgery followed by a injury to my *good* leg (doing exercises for the repaired knee, and fell) just before we left, required to stay off the sand. I should never have gone - kept saying that it would get better soon - nope. I now need a leg brace for that *good* leg in sports events, airports, etc. I am living proof that exercise WILL kill you. So next time we are there, you BETCHA I will ask lots of pool-related questions, and seek out the slat-water one =- or be well enough to trundle down onto the beach.

Salt water pools are not chlorine free. They use salt to produce chlorine. Here is the Wikipedia article on how they work. I would think if there is an "accident" it would still possibly require the direct addition of chlorine to shock the pool.

Once again a situation where irresponsible parents not making sure their child is properly outfitted with swim diapers.

Our pool at home has been converted to salt. Dioxide is right - it's not chlorine-free, it just generates chlorine differently and functions with less chlorine. But, we still use chlorine to jump-start/regulate it at the beginning of the season and after heavy rains.

Agree, but the less chlorine, the better. I was in cypress harbour 6 years ago and after 2 days of pool all our swimsuits lost some colour, that can't be right!!! This never happened at ocean pointe !!!!!!!

Thanks!

Aha! Thanks for the replies. I wonder if there's chlorine in the mineral pool?? I thought I smelled a slight odor of it but that could have been from the hot tub.

In the hot tub..... You are lucky if they add any water to the chlorine !!!!!!!!

Perhaps that is why there are some *adults only* pools - far less chance of accidents? We have all seen those signs at home pools that say "Welcome to our OOL. Notice that there is no P in it. Let's keep it that way, please." There are many situations that we have discussed here, where parents just let kids run wild. I was a teacher for over 30 years - and loved my kids, took then all kinds pf places ( a chorus of over 100, to Broadway shows, Yankee Stadium, etc. - with many parents who loved to com as chaperones). But since there were MY kids, they knew that they had better behave. It is OPC - Other People's Children - that make me ask a waitress to move my seat in a restaurant, or cause me to seek out another beach chair at a Marriott. I make a POINT of telling effective parents how LOVELY their kids are, and how well they have been raised, etc. Just flew on Finnair this summer (7 hours each way!) - every single child was quiet, polite, well- behaved, and had appropriate games and interaction from their parents. If they can do it - so can we.

We just switched to a salt cell at our home. The salt cell makes a chlorine but somehow the pool feels so much better. The percentage of salt in the pool is a lot lower than ocean water. It avoids the chlorine feel on your skin.
