We have three children 6 and under. We are thinking of heading to Florida in early December. If we were close enough to Disney to go for a day or two we would but that is not a must (we are doing Disney Dec 2010). I looked at Orange Lake and put a west unit on hold.

If you were traveling with young children which resorts would you look at?:ponder:

I wouldl look at Disney Beach Club or Animal Kingdom, unless you're looking for a beach resort.

It's really not beach weather in Florida in December.

HGVC

We have stayed at Hilton Grand Vacation Club, Seaworld. We had a large three-bedroom unit with washer and dryer in unit. The pool was large. There is a restaurant on site and it is in close proxmity to Disney, Seaworld, etc. I can't compare as I have not stayed in other resorts in the area.

Hi Stricky,

I would give two thumbs up to OLCC. We are owners and users. We love it. Our grandkids and kids think that it's the best. We've been to several Orlando resorts. Nice, but, our favorite is OLCC.

If you are not going to Disney I would skip the traffic in Orlando. How about Ron Jons Caribe or the Resort on Cocoa Beach. Both have great amenities for kids. The Kennedy Space Center is a great place for kids to see also. As far as 'beach weather' it depends on where you are from. Coming from WI we love Dec 'beach weather' in Florida. Dawn

I would hands down choose Marriott's Harbour Lake. This resort (used to be called Horizons by Marriott) is so in tune with the needs of young kids and families that we just could not get our children to want to leave the resort.

They have many activities for kids to do, plus they have a terrific kids program (called MAZE) that will engage the kids in activities while you can do other things, like an evening away from them.

There is a reason that this resort is rated so highly on Tripadvisor -- it is a perennial family favourite.

Maybe your kids love Nickelodeon shows, if so, i can recommend u Nickelodeon family suites orlando, they have Nickelodeon-themed KidSuites and resort water park is fantastic!

Our family would agree with this. We went in October 2008 and returned June 2009. It appealed to our children 12, 10, 6,and 2. The activity counselors are great with the kids. We were pleased to see the same staff members on both of our visits. We also noticed small improvements to the resort between our visit.

We will return here in the future.

We loved Orange Lake. I stayed there with my 4 kids without my husband or any help and we had a blast. Tons to do onsite. The kids loved the beach area the most, oh and the pool.

I own at Orange Lake and it is my favorite resort in Orlando but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the more well known resorts. Vistana Resort and Bonnett Creek would be a couple other resorts that I would look at. Another one was Mariott Harbour Lake (http://www.intervalworld.com/web/cs?a=1503&resortCode=MHZ&parentResortCode=MHZ or http://www.marriott-vacations.com/t...-harbour-lake/virtual-tour-photo-gallery.html) where I believe the pool area is really set for younger children.
