Which NYC place to stay at?

Hello! Would love some collective thoughts. I've never stayed at any of the NYC timeshares or actually ever paid attention to them. My son (7) said he wants to do NYC for a summer vacation this year. So we will be looking at July or August whenever I make some plans. I have 4 FNC that need to be used before October too so will probably book at one hotel for the whole stay with part of it flexible to cancel in case there is availability with a timeshare stay. Would there even be availability in July or August, is one month better than the other or will it really be just getting lucky? looks like my booking window is short, 60-90 days depending on place. Which one is the best one to stay at? Is it W57th? I've been to NYC plenty but it's been a little shy of 8 years since I last visited the city! (hilariously found out I was pregnant on that trip).

I haven't stayed in any of the NYC timeshares, but I would take whichever one you can get. If you find out you have a choice, let us know.

Availability in July-August is usually pretty good. That is the hot summer gold season for NYC.

There is no "best." A number of us own at the different places and have reasons we like the ones we own. But it's really subjective. If you want to be near Central Park, W. 57th and Quin are good. We own at W. 57th, so partial to that, but can't say it's "better" than Quin. Similarly, Central is good if you want to be near 5th avenue. Fortunately, they will all have AC. You'll need it :)

Cheers.

As @brp wrote there really isn’t a best…only different. The Residences are inside the enormous Hilton Midtown - whether you view that as a positive or a negative is up to you. I prefer the location of W57 and the Quin…but the other ones aren’t that far away. Also, W57 charges a short stay fee if you decide to only do HGVC for a couple of days.

This all assumes that you are looking for a normal studio. If you want a larger unit, a balcony, or a penthouse or whatever then that is a different conversation.

for sure, summer wouldn't be my first choice but school schedule and I'd rather pay for vacation than pay for a week of camp. So here we are.

I've stayed at the Quin for 4-5 days in late August each of the past two years. I have known about my plans well ahead of the window opening, so have made reservations right around that time. It seems like the lower point rooms get booked first and some of the higher point rooms will possibly sit for awhile. In 2024 they did run a 25% off promo for a few of the NYC properties for stays from June 11 through August 29th. Weeks 29-34 are Gold weeks, so you can get a pretty low point stay during those weeks and a bonus would be if they run a promo. Too bad you have those 4 FNC's expiring, as I am thinking you could get a pretty low cost stay using TS points instead.

This is really helpful! Thanks! Yes, could possibly push the FNC to something around Labor Day all just depends how the plans shake out!

BTW...the promo's have excluded a small window around July 4th. In 2024, it was the 4th to the 6th.

My wife and I stayed at W57th last September. It was nicely located close to a couple of the subway lines and walking distance to some of the theaters and Central Park as well. We only had a Studio unit which was basically the same as a nice hotel room. Everything was nice inside the room.

I own at HCNY and have stayed at all properties with the exception of the Residences. All good suggestions above. Even though I own HCNY I prefer the 57th as it is NOT part of the a huge Hilton Hotel. Lounge is nicer but my suspicion is you won't get access to it anyway. The Quin, would be the last on my list only because when I stayed there they were doing work in the lobby. Find out if the lobby bar and restaurant construction is completed (or will be) and if so then the Quin is most definitely back in the mix. I was told during my stay that the new lobby bar and restaurant are suppose to be fabulous.

The restaurant has been open for a little bit now. I assume that the bar is as well. We looked at the restaurant and it was higher-priced than expected, even given the area, but did look great.

Cheers.

@Nomad420 and @brp If by the restaurant you mean Acadia and not some other bar/restaurant inside the Quin's lobby, then it is pretty good...we've eaten there about a half dozen times. The cocktails and apps are excellent though the entrees are uninspiring (like many similar restaurants in NYC they feel the need to focus their entrees on overpriced and underthought 'hunks of protein' dishes). Since we eat off the Mezze/Salads/Appetizer side of the menu we find Acacia to be an exceptional value for the location.

Acadia is open. Pricey but hey it's NYC and it's close to W57 and Quin. We enjoyed the hummus cart where they make the hummus at the table with fresh baked bread. This was a surprise because we thought we were going to get a hummus dip to go with our drinks. They don't accept elevated rewards.
