Our son's just graduated college in NYC & is getting married early June. They choose a civil ceremony at city hall but just now belatedly opt to take a small honeymoon before they start their jobs. She wants to go to Disneyworld in Orlando & I'll try to use enrolled DC points to book them into one of the MVC Orlando timeshare resorts. Which resort(s) are easiest access to Disney as this seem to be her biggest wish.

thx in advance for any insights

PS we flew AZ to NYC for graduation & flew down to Ocean Pointe on Wednesday. Raining cats & dogs here, but after 16 yrs of coming down here, we're doing just fine. Have to fly up to PHL/NJ where we used to live to stay with friends & will catch train to NYC & wedding. Eventually will get back to AZ & the red rocks. Must say that we prefer red rocks to skyscrapers, but life is good.

Many are fairly close, but the closest would be the Palms resorts (Sabal, Royal and Imperial). They also have access to the Marriott World Center pool facilities and tower water slide, which is a nice bonus. Sabal being the closest to the World Center pools.

Are they over 25 years old? With any of the resorts, they will likely want a rental car and rental car rates are cost prohibitive if you are under 25.

Yes as fastr has mentioned the palms are the closest to disney property. Literally at the stop light out of the property. Turn right and about a 100 yards away there will be the welcome to disney sign.

The problem is that it could still be up to a 15-20 minute drive to any given park. So, for the most part, I don't think it matters what resort one stays at in Orlando, as long as one also has a rental car. There may be a shuttle from the World Center to the parks, but I suspect the schedule probably isn't all that convenient and it probably comes with a per person fee.

Our luck has been better than yours. We have never had a 15-20 minute drive from Sabal Palms, even when we were there once during Christmas week. At that time, there was a shuttle from the World Center to and from the parks. The schedule was reasonably convenient, but there was a per person fee of a few dollars each.

My point was more so that just because you are closer to the parks at the Palms, you still can't walk. You have to rely on a shuttle service.

Last I was there the shuttle was for hotel guests only so I would call before making any decision about that.

Also I did check before posting. Per Google Maps, it is a 15 minute drive to Animal Kingdom. WDW is obviously huge. Just because the gates are only a few minutes away, the parks can be miles further once past those gates.

For what it's worth, we just returned home from a 9 day stay at Cypress Harbour. The drive to and fro any of the WDW parks was never more than 15 minutes each way. Although I must admit that the parks did not seem very crowded.

Thx all for your replies & info. The "recién casados" ( newlyweds ) will choose one of the Orlando 'Palm' resorts for their proximity. Our son's wife is from Cartagena Columbia & they met at Columbia University where they both just graduate. As usual, my son is slow to decide to travel, so I can't find him anything using my enrolled points at this late stage. But they're also going down to Miami & the new Pulse property where I tell them I'll pay the bill there.

Our son's a mil vet who put 6 years in with the Air Force & uses his GI Bill for college, so he's older and will have no problem with the car rental etc. It's gonna be hot down there, but I don't think they will notice that.

Thx again

If they can get into one of the Palms (Sabal is probably top choice because of easy walk to World Center pools), I suggest going to the Disney parks when they open. They can take a mid-day break back at the pool, and easily return in the evenings when things cool down. The convenience of the location makes it easy to enjoy at least one meal back at the timeshare. Our kids often enjoyed the World Center pools and water slides more than the rides (and lines) at Disney.

I agree with Superchief. Not only because of the short walk to the pools but it’s also adjacent to the very nice World Center fitness center and Spa and the Marsh Hawk Club House

I love Cypress Harbor. It is only a couple of minutes to I-4 and a short drive directly into Walt Disney World. I don’t care for the World Center resorts. I admit it’s been many years since I went there- but aren’t the rooms there very small?

Ive always heard good things about Cypress Harbor. I don’t know the measurements of Sabal Palms but the master suite (pictured) is average to large size with large double sink counter, closeted toilet and a nice walk in shower with multiple shower heads. The second bedroom has two beds and seemed a little tight. Any 2 bdr will be huge for newlyweds.

Yep, I give my granddaughters a week away, as one of my wedding presents, using my Timeshares. A one bedroom is fine. I paid for the room, their theme park tickets and the meal plan for the granddaughter who went to Walt Disney World using my Disney Vacation Club points. The other went to Utah. I gave them money for some of their expenses and their airfares. I’m a very cool Grammy if I say so myself! LOL!
