I know there are a few posts on Spain but I could not find any conclusive information for my question - which of the 3 resorts there is the best choice, Also since we are booking the resort 1st and the air later we will no doubt need to add some hotel nights on either side - using Marriott points of course, any recommendations of hotels to pick and which city

Some questions
1. which is the easiest to get to from the airport and which airport do you fly in to for each resort - and which is the best Marriott hotel near the city near the airport
2. which is the easiest to go to other places in Spain (and Europe) from
3. which is the most beautiful. This will be out 1st trip to Spain and 1st trip to Europe for our kids and I want to show them all I can.

Thanks

Beth

You may need to refer to all the other posts to better understand the options and pick the resort to best suit your preferences, but in answer to your specific questions.
1
Club Son Antem is the easiest to get to from Palma Airport (on the island of Majorca), although from the US you may have more flight options into Malaga than into Palma.
Marbella Beach Resort is next, with Playa Andaluza a little further away, both from Malaga Airport and on the coast.

Marbella Beach Resort is the easiest to go to other places in Spain (and Europe), with Playa Andaluza almost as convenient.
3 Club Son Antem is the most beautiful, in extensive rural landscaped gardens on a golf complex

We enjoyed our stay at Marbella and the location worked well as a base for our day trips.

Our trip started in Barcelona, then Madrid, both in hotels. The Westin Palace in Madrid was fantastic. Then we flew to Malaga and rented a car for our week stay at Marbella.

We like to drive and explore, so our day trips included trips to 1) Granada, 2) Córdoba and Seville, 3) Ronda and Gibraltar, and 4) Malaga. Some of them were long days, but we thoroughly enjoyed the sites.

We also stopped by the resort in Playa Andaluza. They said they don’t normally let people in unless they are guests or on a presentation, but it was almost dark and he must have liked us. He let us in and we walked around the resort. Had a dessert in. Their restaurant and enjoyed the live music they had that night. It was also a nice resort, but as bazzap mentioned the location is a little father from Malaga.

One word of caution if you do drive around Spain. Watch your speed. They have cameras onth freeways and I didn’t see signs warning us. Maybe I just missed them. I received a ticket after we returned home and the rental car company charges a fee to pass your information along to the police.

Have a great time.

Best regards.

Mike

Airbnb lol.

Barry has covered your questions, the last one being more subjective however, I would agree, Son Antem is the more attractive particularly in terms of the villa design and the individual pools which provide more privacy and serenity (unless my kids are in there).

If you want to be on the beach then Playa Andaluza or Marbella Beach Club are your options but neither beach is particularly attractive however the sea breeze (which can be strong on occasions) can be very welcome in the summer heat.

Mallorca may be an island but that doesn not mean that there is not enough to fill your week. We've been going for many years, often twice a year and during different seasons and we've still not seen it all. Some of the places we love so we often return. The travel pace will be slower than it would if you opted for the mainland resorts but that's a benefit in my opinion. The whole rushing around trying to cram as many "must see" sights as possible is exhausting and counter-productive. Introducing kids to Spain for the first time should be done at a pace that matches that of the Spanish lifestyle. Lingering over a long lunch or dinner, conversing and people watching will give a truer taste of Spain than driving to a place, a quick look around before dashing to the next one.

As for the airport, Son Antem is a 20 minute drive away so no need to look for hotels near the airport.
