Where to request at Marriott's Grand Chateau

I was lucky enough to grab a 3 bdrm at the Marriott's Grand Chateau, for March 2. I've never been there, and was wondering if anyone could suggest what wing/location to request? I'm a little concerned about possible construction noise, and of course would like a nice view, if possible.

Any suggestions, or recommendations, would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!! :D

There will be only two towers open when you arrive in March of next year. Tower 1 faces north towards Bellagio and tower 2 will face south towards NYNY. It just depends on the view you want. Personally I'd want the highest floor possible. Both towers that will be open face the strip for all three bedroom units. Eventually the resort will be built in the shape of an X. cut off the bottom half of the X and that's where MGC is now. Essentially in the shape of a V facing the strip with the 3 bedroom units at the very ends (top) of the V.

Thanks Doug!! That's a very clear description. I will ask for the highest floor possible. Can't wait to get there! :D

You will get your "share" of construction noise no matter what you do. We stayed at the Chateau in April 08 at which time construction of the Westgate project accross the steet was just beginning. I understand they are now up to about 10th floor. There is nothing to block their noise from impacting the Chateau. Many guests ask for one of the highest floors, few get it. Also, no matter where you go as you leave the Chateau you will get to cope with construction traffic on the huge project accross the LV Blvd. It's not a pretty picture, I know. Be it as it may, enjoy Las Vegas !

Ut-Oh

If the new tower is fully open (all floors) by your arrival, I'd ask for the highest floor in that wing. I prefer the view from that direction and you'll only get noise from the City Center project, whereas the other tower will also get it from the Westgate side.

Good point about the Westgate project noise. I've seen reports that the first 12 floors of the new tower will be open around March. However, I'm confused as to whether it will be the first as floors or the top 12 floors. If it's the top 12 floors then that would be fine. If it's the bottom 12 floors I still think I'd prefer a higher floor (if I could get a higher floor) in tower 1.

Part of this will depend on whether or not the OP is doing a Marriott to Marriott exchange or an outside exchange. Marriott seems to have a pecking order of owners, MGC owners exchanging back into MGC off their usage time, Marriott exchangers, renters who have rented a specific view/floor (high/low), all other exchangers and then renters who have rented run of the house rooms.

If the OP is exchanging from an outside company/timeshare, it would probably be best to state a preference and then ask what's available in either tower. If the room's are both on floors 5-17 (1st few floors are parking garage) then I suppose tower 2 would be the best as it's away from the Westgate construction noise, unless of course you're right under the floor Marriott is working on at that time.

Grand Chateau

You will love this hotel! We own at this Marriott and have stayed in the two bedroom units. We went up to tour a three bedroom unit and it is magnificant! It is huge and has so much space that your guests will each feel like they have their own apartment! We were there last November and the construction didn't bother us at all at that time. Just remember, that you are 1/2 block from the center of the strip; you couldn't ask for a better location.
Enjoy Vegas - you will have a great time no matter what floor you are on!

Thanks all for your replies. Great info!

BTW...I exchanged a Marriott for this week, although not an MGC. Thanks again!

I am curious about my room request options as well, although I have a 1-bedroom. I determined that the best 1-bedroom views come from the lockoff units in the 3-bedrooms at the corners. In Tower 1, I would face the South strip, and in Tower 2 I would face the North. My inclination is to request Tower 2, a) because the North Strip looks much nicer IMHO and b.) the rooms will be slightly newer. Obviously both views are good and both towers are basically brand new so it's not a huge issue...but I guess I'm wondering how much of Tower 2's North strip view is cut off by Tower 1?

...and I have to say that whoever gets to stay in the 3-bedroom units...those views are to die for

6 of 1, half dozen of the other...

I haven't had this comfirmed yet, but the floorplan for the 3 bedroom units for each tower look like a mirror image. If that's true, the 3rd bedroom suite in the first tower faces to the west, slightly to the south... and the 3rd bedroom suite in the new tower faces to the west, slightly to the north. Not too much difference, but my preference is the view towards the south. I think it would be better to ask for their highest floor and not worry about the rest...

I'm really not certain about this. If they are a mirror image, the one bedroom LO portion would face the strip. If they are the same layout then the one bedroom LO portion could face the south. I'll have to look at my photo's of the second tower to see how the windows are arranged to get a better idea of which direction the one bedroom units in tower 2 might be facing.

The 1 bedroom LO of the 3 bedroom unit is a smaller 1 bedroom unit. There are also dedicated 1 bedroom untis that are not the master suite LO of the 2 bedroom LO unit and there are, of course, the 1 bedroom LO unit of the 2 bedroom unit. So there are 3 different 1 bedroom units at Grand Chateau.

The 1 bedroom LO of the 3 bedroom is at the end of each tower. It is slightly smaller than the others. The kitchen does not have the granit bar top and the bathroom has a tub/shower combintation.

The dedicated 1 bedroom units are almost the same as the 1 bedroom master suite LO of a 2 bedroom unit with 2 minor exceptions. There is no LO door of course and the table has seating for only 4 instead of 6. These are located mid tower and both provide very nice views. Tower 1 will look south if your facing west and north if your on the east side of the tower. Tower 2 will face north if you on the west side of the tower and south towards the airport and MGM's signature towers if your on the east side of the tower. IMO the west side dedicated 1 bedrooms units on the highest floor possible are you best bet for a good view from either tower 1 or 2.

There are two bedroom units with 1 bedroom LO master suites that are close to the elevator or closer to the end of the hallway down by the 3 bedroom LO units. IMO those that are further down the hall would provide the better view and are less likely to experience elevator noise or construction noise from any ongoing construction/completion of the units in tower 2.

So let me see if I have this correctly:

The 1-bedroom lockouts of the 2-bedroom units are biggest, closest to the elevators/center of the building, have the dual head shower, and the table has seating for six

The dedicated 1-bedroom units are a bit smaller, about halfway along the tower hallway, have the dual head shower, and the table has seating for four

The 1-bedroom lockouts of the 3-bedroom units are smallest, at the ends of the tower, have no dual head shower, and no granite countertops in the kitchen

Do I have it right? For some reason I thought that the lockouts of the 2-bedroom units were efficiencies. Let me know if this is right...if it is I'll go ahead and request a 30th Floor or higher west facing dedicated 1-bedroom in Tower 2

Thanks again Doug :)

Pretty much.

I'm confusing things a bit with my terminology. When I refer to a 1 bedroom LO of a 2 bedroom unit, I'm refering to the Master Suite. The 2 bedroom units LO into a 1 bedroom unit and an efficiency like you are thinking.

I'm not certain if there is much of a size difference between the dedicated 1 bedroom unit and the master suite of the 2 bedroom unit. Only that the dedicated 1 bedroom units are in the middle of the hallway and have a table that seats only four. They are, IMO, the nicest of the 1 bedroom units because the have nice size and no LO door that could transmit neighbor noise. I also like the fact I know the loction of the unit and the nice shower vs the tub/shower of the 3 bedroom LO.

As far as the placement of 2 bedroom LO units, I believe there is one at either end of the hallway. One closest to the elevator and one toward the end of the hallway by the 3 bedroom units. You could end up with either one.

The 1 bedroom LO of the three bedroom unit have granite counter tops, just no breakfast bar set up. The kitchen runs along the wall instead of having the L shape counter top with the breafast bar section that usually has a couple of stools in front of it. Does that make any sense?

We'll be in a one bedroom on March 8th using an AC. This is helpful information. What's the fitness room like?

They have a nice fitness room for now. But as each tower is completed it could get a little crowded in there. There were free weights, weight machines, 4 treadmills, 4 elipticles trainers and a few stationary bikes as I recall. I did not get a great picture of the fitness room and will have to see if I can get some better shots when we're there next time. For now this is what I have.

more MGC advice

One of the biggest advantages at MGC is the use of the concierge in the lobby. They have a vip ticket request line that will get you better seat locations at the shows. The service is free. The concierge can also give you a review of the different performances. You can avoid wasting your money on bad shows. The show tickets are full price however.

For those interested in big discounts for tickets there is a line that forms every day at the Tahtian Market at around 10:30am. The TM is about 300 yards from the MGC, in front of Polo Towers. Unused tickets for shows that day are sold at big discounts. (Often 1/2 or more) I saw The Producers, starring Tony Danza for $34. If you enjoy Las Vegas you'll enjoy MGC.

You can also book sightseeing trips either on the internet or through the concierge. Two great trips that I took were to the Grand Canyon South Rim and the floating raft down the Colorado River. They pick you up right at the MGC.

Have they changed the name? Last year when we were there it was still the Hawaiian Marketplace.
