I was looking on Open Table and see many restaurants are completely booked already. Any suggestions appreciated.

I’m not opposed to getting a heat and eat option from somewhere like a grocery store either. But there will only be four of us, so not really excited about dealing with all those leftovers.

Wow, you're not kidding about lack of availability! First thought, I would just call the restaurants you are interested in and not rely on OpenTable alone. Sometimes restaurants will release more availability closer to the date, or will put you on a waitlist and get back to you. At the very least you could find out how much of the restaurant is dedicated to walk-ins vs. reservation. Add the OpenTable app to your phone, and check it periodically for changes -- people cancel all the time.

You can also contact the Concierge at the T.S. you're staying at -- they may be able to pull off a good reservation for you.

If after all that, you really can't get into anywhere you would want to go, I would also give Sherman's Deli a call and see if they are putting together any menus for Thanksgiving. They always have in-house roast turkey on their menu, which is a good start to a traditional dinner. In the Desert, I've even had turkey and latkes at Christmas, and didn't miss the mashed-potatoes one bit! I always enjoy Sherman's and they have a huge dessert selection too. I haven't done a take out meal from them, but their portions are so huge I always do end up with a container to take home.

Enjoy your trip.

We were in London for Thanksgiving one year and just had pizza. It was just ok and definitely not a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but we still talk about it. We also did Thanksgiving one year in Tahoe and picked up a turkey breast at Costco, as well as the mashed potatoes and some gravy, plus green beans. It was better than I had expected. That said, I hope that you find something that works for you.

+1. Sherman's is a top-tier favorite of ours when we're in the desert.

We enjoyed a fabulous spread (OK, the most impressive I've ever enjoyed) at the LaQuinta Resort. This was Pre-CV. Not sure about there, but I know a lot of the nicest resorts in Sedona are limiting their dining to overnight guests only.

Volunteer to serve (or whatever) at a place like Salvation Army or similar. It'll give you an experience of REAL Thanksgiving, some great food, and the companionship of people who are truly thankful you're there. Trust me- They have an opening.

The Auga Caliente Casinos have Thanksgiving dinners to go.

Yeah, they don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK. If you can believe it, they also do not celebrate the 4th of July!!

Highly recommended. Our good friends and their children and grandchildren have their family gathering and have Thanksgiving dinner at the Terrace every year.
If we were going to Palm Desert over Thanksgiving, I would definitely make a res.

Instead, we're going to LV (Grand Chateau). It is a Friday to Friday res. We're considering driving back on Thanksgiving, thinking that the traffic may be less. Or Friday. We haven't decided yet. I should probably do some searches on places to eat on Thanksgiving in Vegas.

I ended up pre-ordering a turkey breast dinner for 4 and some sides from Whole Foods in Palm Desert. I was trying to accommodate a vegan, and this seemed like the easiest way to do it. We will eat outside on the patio of our unit at the resort. This will be a treat, as we will be coming from rainy Washington.

Some of Whole Foods prices have gone up since I started looking, just in last couple of weeks! And some items are sold out already too.

This is going to be an interesting holiday season with all these shortages.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to post a suggestion.

we will be at palm spring for christmas. any restaurant recommendation as will be driving from newport beach and really don’t want to cook on christmas day

I hope a few of you are following this thread, even though it's after Thanksgiving. I didn't want to start a whole new thread because this is on the same subject, just different date. Has anyone been to Copley's lately? Would you recommend it for a special evening out? Don't need extravagant, just a nice evening.
