I've got a Marriott Grande Vista studio reservation at 190 days out with a decent TPI. I deposited the 2 bedroom into Interval already.

What should I do with the MGR studio?
Deposit into II? Deposit into SFX diamond? Can I still Florida club it?

I'd ultimately like to use it for a 'lead-in' week in Hawaii this Feb. or get a nice fall beach week (flextime) in September. Might try to Florida Club the studio into a 2br and then exchange....Not sure how that would work (cnx the ressie or just call? never done it).

Open to suggestions, just got the SFX on a lark (good deal) and nervous about depositing with them and loosing Marriott pref.

Thanks!

SFX is very strict about which studios they accept. In fact, they told me they'd only take a studio for San Fran or NYC, but I have seen a couple others. I'd go with II if I were you.

Thanks...the system showed they would take the exchange....vacation week; think I'm going to try and florida club it to a 2 bedroom and then deposit with II.

How come you get 2BR with a studio in FL Club?
You get the same size unit (if you have a studio at Grande Vista, you get a studio unit at other resorts in FL Club), you cannot get a 2BR through FL Club.
The only way you can upgrade your unit to a 1BR or 2BR is through II.

SFX do not accept studio unit... I tried to deposit my Marriott Desert Springs Villa (Phase I), 3/12 week which has the highest demand and they didn't want my studio. I doubt they would accept a studio at grande vista.

I think the rep at Marriott confused "only 2br or larger" rule with II vs Florida club. Yes, indeed. The reason there was no availability (over the phone booking) was because you can't book a 2br with a studio.

Think I'm going to get a florida club trade and deposit. Higher than MGR in trade matrix (I think) and better date.

thanks for suggestions. Maybe next year I'll try and deposit with SFX and see if they turn me down.

Since I see a studio at DSV on their last minute page, I guess they do take some random studios once in a while. Not sure what the rhyme/reason is behind the decision, but it would be worth calling and asking if you have a studio and need to deposit it somewhere.

Well, I actually swapped into a Florida Club spring break studio. Now, I just need to decide whether to rent it or deposit it.

I'll think I'll check with Denise and see if she thinks it's worth trying to rent.

Marriotts
Legend's Edge, Ocean Pointe, Grande Vista, Beach Place Towers and Villas at Doral

are all part of the 'florida club' You can exchange (free) like for like into another resort. I traded a Grande Vista studio for a Beach place studio in March. Very nice swap.

Florida club explanation is here:

They only take studios from major urban cities like San Francisco, New York, DC, London, and maybe some other cities. They say they have no demand for studios in resort areas, because exchangers want at least a one or two bedroom unit. Better off depositing your studio with II.
