It's been about 15 years since we've been to Grand Vista. We are considering a week in February in a one bedroom, but before we decide I wanted to get an idea when the last time it was refurbished. We own and usually stay at Cypress and know what shape their units are. Can anyone tell me when the last time Grand Vista was updated, and if it is in the process of being updated, which section should we request in order to get more updated rooms?

They have been refurbishing the units for the past 2 years. They may have started with the club side villas. We stayed in a newly refurbished one 2 yrs ago while they were working on the others. The next year while we were there they were working on the west side village. In October they had done the Golf Village ones because we stayed in building 92 and it was done. They might be done now.

I thought because of all the buildings and towers that Grand Vista has, villa refurbishment is always ongoing. As soon as they finish with the latest unit, the process starts again with the first unit that was refurbished years ago.

Maybe there might be a year or two between refurbishment cycles?

We were there last week. We had a 2 bedroom lockoff, building 79, units 9149 and 9150. Pretty units, very small kitchen compared to the others we stay, like Royal Palms, where we are now, which is our new favorite outside of the Disney bubble.

The master shower that replaced the tub is ridiculously large.

The bench is nice in the shower but it is overdone and oversized for the average person. There is a spray adjustment that turns to rain shower and hand shower wand. That was something I thought was very awkward. I turned the handle to get the wand to work and the rain shower started dripping water on my head. The thing is set up to do both. I wasn't washing my hair, so now I had to wash my hair. After my head got soaked once. I stood away from that rain shower head the next few times. We were only three for a few days.

There was no working exhaust fan in the master bathroom. I put a tissue to the vent when it would surely be on (all of the switches were on), and no air. Whoops. That creates a bit of a problem with any bathroom, no exhaust fan for odors and moisture. The electricians need to get that hooked up to the switch.

The second bathroom in the lockoff side had an exhaust fan, which I ran the entire time because it smelled like mold/ mildew but the bathroom was sparkling clean. Go figure. Something is going on with that smell. I have a sensitive nose, but our friends also said it was bad.

Grande Vista is such a huge resort they are almost always refurbishing some section of units. It just depends which building you are on how recently it was refurbished.

We checked in yesterday. This is our first time staying in building #80, which is the checkin. I know this building was one of the first to be renovated back in 2018 or 2019. I asked for the most recently renovated, but I decided to stay since the gym is in the building. This unit needs a renovation.

That is how it works. I understand there is a five year cycle where they are always refurbishing. When the finish the last set of buildings there is a one or two year break they start the cycle all over again.

I made a video about that. Will you be hanging out at the resort mostly or spending most days in the parks? How old are the kiddos?

You probably should have reported that via text to the front desk. Most large buildings like this don't use active fans in the individual bathrooms. Instead they have a tall stack pipe that goes to the roof where there is a single fan that is always running to pull air up from all of the bathrooms of a "stack".

We learned about this a few years ago. One night we woke up to the smell of pot in the bathroom. I know it wasn't us. The engineering guy explained to us how it worked. The fan on the roof had failed and it cause the pot someone was smoking in the bathroom of another unit above or below us to come into our bathroom because there was no fan to constantly draw the air up and out of the building.

I will look at your video. I had watched some of your videos earlier in my timeshare research before I realized you were on here šŸ˜„ .
The kids will be 4 and 8. Staying mostly on property but will have a rental car to venture out.
I will also have to go back and see cos I asked this question before on if all the units have mosquito/bug screens. I loved that at Cypress Harbour.

How are the pool temperatures during the winter months? I believe all pools are heated at Grand Vista.

They don't all have screens. I don't really know the exact patter, but a lot of the studios don't have screen patios but most of the 1BR side of the 2BR will have screens. What type of unit do you have booked?

We are in a 1 bedroom. HTOMV from the list indicates it is a 1 bedroom side of the 2 bedroom.

Last stay at Grand Vista a few months ago, the small pools were heated. Didn't goto the main pool though.

Here at Lakeshore Reserve and the main pool/lazy river is heated.

Looked at the video. Thanks for the info @dioxide45 . It seems each side has its own little unique attributes.
I think we will go for the golf village (buildings 87-92) and probably a high floor. Seems to have had a recent renovation and we will be in a 1 bedroom lock off of a 2 bedroom.
Already received an email from the resort for preferences.

We were there this November. I requested building 93. We are owners and our request was honored. Our unit seemed to have been refurbished. No more big bathtub. A big beautiful shower. Now appliances.
I was there in May. Here are some pictures.
