We would like to go to Cabo. We have never been there. We are wanting to go when the weather is warm enough to sunbathe and get in the pool. So what month would be the best?

Also, is the ocean always cold there? How is scuba diving there?

We are with RCI and are wondering which resorts are the best and nicest? We are not wanting an all inclusive.

Thanks for you help and any information!

Have only been to Cabo in November, January and February. In January and February the water is too cold for me. November temps are perfect and the water temp is warm enough. I can snorkel without a wetsuit and dive with a
3 mm shortie. We now go EOY for 2 weeks in November.
I just got certified in August 2007 in Belize. So far I have been diving in Belize x2, Puerto Vallarta, Playa del Carmen x2, and Cabo. The only place I wouldn't go out of my to dive again was PV. We dove Cabo Pulmo and the area around Land's End in November. Both sites were good and we felt the diving around Land's Ends was good enough so that we would probably not make the trek to Cabo Pulmo again. The diving in Cabo was different than Belize and PLC in that there is not as much color, little corals and sponges, but tons of fish.
I will get to add dives to Hawaii and Kauai in March and April and Curacao in June - can't wait!
Our resort is with II but RCI has a lot of nice resorts. I'm sure others can recommend RCI resorts. Just be aware of the resort location; if you do not want to rent a car, the resorts in the corridor are somewhat remote and cabs can be pricey.

Cabo

I own and stay at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach every year. We love it there.
It is a little out of town but they have a free shuttle to their sister resort downtown. We usually go in Oct/Nov but this year we are going in february to see the whales migrate. I was just on Tripadvisor and they are saying it is 80 degrees there right now during the day and about 60 at night.

We have owned at the Pueblo Bonito Rose for 10 years and go every year in August. It is hot then, but we like it. I think probably June and July would be especially nice, too.

You can't go wrong with any of the three Pueblo Bonito Resorts. Two are on the safe, swimmable beach and are within easy walking distance to town: PB Rose and PB Los Cabos. They are right next to each other. The other PB mentioned above, Sunset Beach, is the largest of the three and is on the Pacific side where it is unsafe to swim. There are numerous lovely pools there and the beach is pretty to look at. There is a free shuttle to and from Sunset Beach from the Rose, and you can use the facilities at all the PB resorts when staying at any one of them.

The Playa Grande is very nice, close to town, and on the Pacific side where you can't swim in the ocean. There are several other nice Cabo resorts, but these are my favorites.

Thank you so much for all your information. Which airport is the best to fly into? We will be flying from Houston, Texas. Do you recommend renting a car? If so, who is the best to rent from? Please keep the information coming.

Thank you so much for all your information. Which airport is the best to fly into?
There is just one airport--San Jose del Cabo--or SJD on the airline airport designations. It is in the town of San Jose.

The whole area of Cabo is called Los Cabos and is made up of the two towns of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas with the area along the highway between them referred to as "the Corridor."

If you stay right in Cabo San Lucas within walking distance of town you might not even need a car.

There is a lot of Cabo information in the sticky post at the top of the Mexico forum. Look at post #4 on that thread.

I fly out of IAH and usually use continental. It's the only nonstop flight to San Jose. I just booked a flight for spring break and it was $525. The best day to look for flights is Tues, Wed, and Thurs. For some reason, they are cheaper on those days, regardless of when you are flying. The best prices are about 5-6 weeks in advance. Yes, I go several times a year. It you're not renting a car, I suggest Transcabo. You can book online and pay when you get there. Unfortunately, I see the price has gone up to $43 pp round trip. A taxi is about $100 each way. Times are hard in Cabo right now...our economy has hurt them very badly. Last March the weather was beautiful during the day and absolutely freezing at night. People were wearing gloves and scarves..it is the desert and it does get cold. I've been during almost every month of the year, and regardless of the evening, the days are always warm.

I'm usually there for all of July and head back the first week in August. The days are wonderfully hot and the nights can be somewhat humid. September is usually the worst month to go as it's the rainy season (hurricane time). My AC was on the fritz last year as I was remodeling my place and I still survived with fans. All of the resorts have great AC, so it' won't be a problem. If you golf early in the morning, you're okay, but afternoon temps exceed 95. The swimmable beach at Medano is usually very much alive, the water temps are still cooler that one would expect.

We are thinking of going in August, the first week. Is it too hot then?
We've gone the second week of August every year for the last ten years and we love it. We're usually in the pool during the hottest part of the day or in the air conditioned room relaxing.

PB Sunset Beach is great in July on the Pacific side

We go every year in July. Our timeshares at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach get the Trade Winds off the Pacific. This makes for enjoying the sun, with little humidity.

I was there Memorial Day week and thought the weather was perfect.

I didn't try to swim in the ocean as the surf where we stayed is dangerously rough.
