Two of our favorites are the Dolphin and Swan at Disney - Starwood gets my vote. But I also like the Marriott and Hilton resorts.

The poll question is "What's your favorite hotel chain", which is not necessarily the one you stay at the most.

In that case, I choose Four Seasons. :)

As I said, it all depends on where we are going. We will usually choose Hyatt first but not always. We do like Westin also and some Hilton's. I do agree with the previous poster that many of the comparable Hilton branded properties are better than the Marriott's. For example, Hiiton's "Embassy Suites" and "Homewood Suites" are better than Marriott's "Residence Inn" and "Springhill Suites". Hilton's "Hampton" is better than Marriott's "Fairfield Inn". We usually stay at one of the Hilton properties if there are no luxury 4/5* hotels where we are going. Of course we also stay some times at Best Western and others if that is all there is such as our trip to the Utah National parks.

So you voted for which hotel chain? :wall:

I voted for Hilton as my favorite chain several days ago. I had been a HHonors platinum member for the past four years but have just now been demoted to HHonors gold member status.

I am a member of Marriott Rewards and Starwood preferred as well. I think that HHonors is a superior customer loyalty program despite the recent devaluation. I think that Marriott Rewards and Starwood preferred are comparable to each other.

In that case, I choose Four Seasons. :)

only 1 other vote for FS, interesting.
(although marriott included ritz carlton and you can redeem marriott for ritz carlton.)
there is also http://www.amanresorts.com/

i decided to vote based on preferred guest program. (only FS doesnt have one.)
starwood for me, most luxury/higher-end hotels for earn/redeem and best airline transfers.
unfortunately with marriott to get ritz carlton you have to own timeshare or stay at marriotts.

I vote Marriott too for the points system on which my family have enjoyed many vacations to world class cities. The fact these points don't expire is a great benefit, even if there is some devaluation over time. However, I had some Hilton points and checked one day...and they were all gone!!! No more Hilton for me.

Brian

I vote Marriott family--not just because we have the timeshares, but their points don't expire. I like Hilton family hotels too, but their points expire--which I don't like. I also like Hyatts, but they don't have enough hotels to compete with my work destinations.

Might be worth a call to Hilton to see if they'll reinstate your points. I've had this happen before for other major chains, and they did reinstate my points with a limited usage period, a year or a year and a half as an example.

amazingly, i found Wyndham Grand Desert (although former Fairfield) better than HGV Suites on the Las Vegas Strip in every way except physical plant. (locations id say were neutral.)
