I'm interested in what chain of hotels TUGGERS like the best. (The hotels, not the timeshares.)

Please vote in the poll if you so desire.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve - I love Westin Hotels. I love the Heavenly Beds! Since sleeping is the reason that we have a hotel room, I find bed comfort to be the determining factor in which chain that I like.

elaine

We like Choice Hotels , mainly for their loyalty points. They often run a "Stay twice, get a night for free" promotion. When we drive to Florida, 2 nights on the road, and we get a free night. We can also exchange points for our favourite airline- Southwest.

When we drive to Buffalo to fly out on trips, we stay at our favourite Clarion, where they know us by name. We get a great rate for park and fly, being such repeat customers.

Westin for comfort
Marriott for abundance of locations and nice properties (but no beds are as good as the Wesin... IMO)
Hyatt rewards point accumulation and business services.
So we like several for different reasons

We like Courtyard by Marriott. We are members of the Marriott Elite Rewards and always get nice rooms, breakfast and internet for staying. Most of these facilities have free parking on site.

I voted Hilton. I also like Marriott, but I've had some bad experiences with them with cleanliness issues.

Our favorite is Hyatt ( Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency ). However, we have stayed in them all as we stay 50-60 nights a year in hotels for leisure. Where we stay is dictated by which is the best hotel in the location we are going to based on our preferences. I rely very heavily on Trip Advisor for choosing hotels in locations we are not familiar with. It has always been right on.

I generally prefer independent boutique luxury hotels over chains. We do not like Fairmont after staying in 3 different ones. Marriott is OK but not in the same class as some of the others.

We stay so seldom in hotels, a night before a flight or something, that we pretty much get something cheap that has decent Tripadvisor ratings.

Wyndham used to be my favourite when they had their best rate guarantee and I could get hotel rooms for free. I do have to say that once we did check in to a Days Inn outside of San Francisco, took one look and stayed at the Best Western across the street - I wouldn't have stayed there if they had paid me to!!

Us too.

In Seattle the Lake Union Courtyard by Marriott is our usual hang out. Great view of the city and Space Needle.

The much smaller Inn at the Market is closer to the action and in a fun location but cost twice as much.

So, if cost didn't mater we would stay at the Inn at the Market as its closest to Kell's Irish Pub , Pikes Street Market and other cool Seattle places.

I vote Marriott family--not just because we have the timeshares, but their points don't expire. I like Hilton family hotels too, but their points expire--which I don't like. I also like Hyatts, but they don't have enough hotels to compete with my work destinations.

If you are at least Silver VIP with Hilton (their lowest level) points never expire. There are lots of ways to get Silver status that don't require lots of hotel stays.

My favorite has become Homewood Suites. They are good sized with a decent kitchen, and they are a newer chain than Residence Inns (their main competition) which generally means newer properties. Their rates are better than Residence Inns as well, and most of the time they are only $10-20 more than a basic hotel room at a given location. They always include a full hot breakfast and evening light meals on weekdays. If a timeshare is not available, this is the next best thing.

A fairly new feature is the ability to choose your room online before you check in. If want a corner room, pool view, away from the elevator, etc. you can choose it. That is really nice when you are arriving late and would normally get the "leftover" room.

We like Hilton and Marriott's.

We use the Hilton Embassy Suites for cruising accommodation and the Marriott for true R & R.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle in August 2007. It was very nice and we had an awesome view of Lake Union, the Space Needle and the Ocean from our upper floor room. It was definitely superior to the 3 Fairmont's and Marriott we stayed at on the same trip and much cheaper.

We love Starwood, because they probably have the best loyalty program.
We use our points to stay free at very expensive hotels in many European countries.
We also like Marriott, and keep accumulating points from timeshare deposits. We have enough points for a couple of world trips, which we haven't been able to coordinate for the past few years. We often stay at Marriott hotels prior to flights, but it isn't cost effective to use points for nightly stays, since we get good park and fly rates.

+1

- week long stays in both Athens and Rome in Cat 6 so far :D

Be honest

Though there are many opinions about which hotel you would rather stay at, I think that the hotel chain you actually choose is the answer that you should give on this poll.

I too would rather stay in a Westin than just about any other hotel, but I chose Marriott because I don't stay at Westins very often. I almost exclusively stay at Marriott branded hotels, and more times than not, it is one of Marriott's second tier hotels.

Voted: Marriott

Marriott because of the consistency of the brand and the sheer number of great locations in all the places I want to go.

Residence Inns are my first choice, JW's second, Fairfield Inn 3rd and Courtyard last. If I'm gonna use a hotel, I want breakfast thrown in. :)

In that case, out vote for Marriott fits with where we tend to stay. Marriott has good variety of hotels in various price ranges and in loctions that fit our needs.

Yes we will stay at other brands from time to time depending on our needs and the cost per night but, overall we find ourselves in Marriott hotels more often than any other chain.

I picked Priceline since that's usually where I go first. We've also got a bunch of Starwood points so that's usually the back-up in case we can't score a good Priceline deal.

If I were to pick one brand to stay at regardless of cost (with the understanding that I've never stayed at a Four Seasons or Ritz), it would have to be Westin. I have yet to stay at a Westin without being completely thrilled with the room and common areas. A close second would be Hyatt - it's right on par with Westin, but I've stayed at a dodgy Hyatt in the past that would never meet Westin's standards.

If I were to pick one chain to use as a frequent traveler on business, it would be Hilton. There is generally some type of Hilton-branded hotel everywhere we go and I prefer Hilton's entry-level brand (Hampton Inn) over Marriott's (Fairfield Inn/Courtyard). It seemed to me that I was able to accumulate HHonors points faster and was use them a lot more flexibly than competing programs.

The poll question is "What's your favorite hotel chain", which is not necessarily the one you stay at the most.

As I said, it all depends on where we are going. We will usually choose Hyatt first but not always. We do like Westin also and some Hilton's. I do agree with the previous poster that many of the comparable Hilton branded properties are better than the Marriott's. For example, Hiiton's "Embassy Suites" and "Homewood Suites" are better than Marriott's "Residence Inn" and "Springhill Suites". Hilton's "Hampton" is better than Marriott's "Fairfield Inn". We usually stay at one of the Hilton properties if there are no luxury 4/5* hotels where we are going. Of course we also stay some times at Best Western and others if that is all there is such as our trip to the Utah National parks.

I travel for work and frequent hotels often.

I try to stay with either Marriott or Hilton, or Starwood would be a third choice. I generally do not try to stay at others unless a client and/or location demands it.

I am Elite (top level) at Marriott, because of nights stayed 75+ a year.

I am Gold (second level) at Hilton because of my TS ownership. So I say here but usually only if location demands it or I have already reached my 75+ nights with Marriott.

I love Starwood, especially Westin, but there are so few locations where I frequent. I used to be their top level at one point, but am only just a member now.

What is your work that requires you to travel so frequently?
