What's the Best Android Tablet as of October 2013

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1", and with the new Android 4.2.2, it does everything current tablets do - and I only paid $200 (refurbished).

The next generation Nexus 10 is due to be revealed on Oct 15th. As much as I love the way the Apple environment is presented and controlled, I'm just plain tired of things like the workarounds needed to play Flash content, the constant update nagging and notifications that have to be manually turned off for each app, etc. I'm thinking of Androiding my tablet experience this fall.

One thing I don't like about Apple. If an e-mail comes in, it has one sound. It can not be changed. Android, on the other hand, is fully customizable.

Actually, it's also customizable in IOS (just changed it myself to be sure). Go to "settings" and "sounds"

If you have a Nook you can convert it to an Android tablet. It's pretty easy to to (I did it).

If you do it like mine you can switch between both uses.

Here's my original comment that somehow got into the 'Best Phones' thread:

Interesting that the 'best of' choices are not weighted by price. Surely the cost would enter into the equation for any reasonable buyer. I'm no expert nor am I really in the market for more devices, but with the 'honorable mention' Kindle HD 7" at $143 (seen brand new in box on eBay) up to over $550 to $600 for a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 depending on memory, there is a lot of latitude.

I never remember what I paid for anything, all I remember is if it worked or not. That doesn't mean price isn't important before buying, but that it's only part of the picture.

My first tablet was a refurb 1st gen Kindle, my daughter is still using it. Great little product, great value.
