Paul Allen on Gates, Microsoft

Let’s explore why Gates may view Allen as his biggest regret

Reading the Bill and Melinda Gates are getting a Divorce Thread.

Paul Allen said in his memoir - Idea Man
"some days working with you is like being in hell.".

I knew Bill Gates had regrets about mistreating Paul Allen . Also, "Bill Gates regrets ever meeting with Epstein,” a spokesperson for the philanthropist told New York Times in 2019,.

But I have never heard "Microsoft Corp. board members decided that Bill Gates needed to step down from its board in 2020 as they pursued an investigation into the billionaire’s prior romantic relationship with a female Microsoft employee that was deemed inappropriate, people familiar with the matter said.

Members of the board tasked with the matter hired a law firm to conduct an investigation in late 2019 after a Microsoft engineer alleged in a letter that she had a sexual relationship over years with Mr. Gates, the people said.

During the probe, some board members decided it was no longer suitable for Mr. Gates to sit as a director at the software company he started and led for decades, the people said. Mr. Gates resigned before the board’s investigation was completed and before the full board could make a formal decision on the matter, another person familiar with the matter said.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Gates said, “There was an affair almost 20 years ago which ended amicably.” She said his “decision to transition off the board was in no way related to this matter. In fact, he had expressed an interest in spending more time on his philanthropy starting several years earlier.”

The "Bill and Melinda Gates are getting a Divorce" Thread got too long, so I posted the following question here:
Why most of us have never heard "Bill Gates Had Reputation for Questionable Behavior" before his divorce?

I can think of two principal reasons:
1. They occurred at a time when relations between individuals were considered private.
B. No one wants to hear/read about bad behavior by icons of American inventiveness.
.

I can think of two principal reasons:
1. Money
B. Power

Bill Gates new pet project...geoengineering..."This solution would be achieved by spraying tons of non-toxic calcium carbonate (CaCO3) into the atmosphere. "SCoPEx is a scientific experiment to advance the understanding of stratospheric aerosols that could be relevant for solar geoengineering".

Is importing sand from Hawaii a "sustainable" practice?

I can think of one principal reason why we have never heard about Bill Gates’ bad behavior with women.
1) It was before the Me Too Movement.

I doubt he regrets anything. Nothing bad is going to happen to him. He will still be worth billions after the divorce. He said he was in a loveless marriage for years. If he has given away $50 billion to charity already and plans to give away the rest, does it really matter if Bill and Melinda are getting divorced and splitting their estate?

As far as we know, he did not do anything illegal. Just questionable ethics.

And this will not hurt his philanthropy. Who is going to turn down donations because he had affairs or he was friends with Epstein?

Ahem, we should not assume that any man who spent time with Mr. Epstein did not do anything illegal. One meeting? Forgivable, but Gates has been linked to Epstein for years. His name came up regularly.

And, I daresay that the #metoo movement is related primarily to Hollywood and TV (although John Stossel recently admitted that he knew better than to daly with they interns). An executive with Bendix lost his job prior to 1980 for his romantic relationship with an underling. Men have regularly lost their jobs in both the corporate world and government for such behavior. A big no-no.

yes, he has given away billions to charity and still has plenty of money

some right wingers hate his "advocacy for science-based approaches to end the pandemic."

and even hate him for predicting the pandemic ..

That’s why I say “as far as we know.” It could be that he was engaged in something illegal but we do not know. He has always engaged in questionable business tactics. I hate to hypothesize but I read that Gates used to attend parties with Epstein where there were many girls attending. If it comes out that he befriended Epstein for access to girls, that would be illegal if they were underage.

It’s all coming out now because of divorce, the mud starts flying and feelings get hurt.

I am very disappointed today about most of the media reported "Bill Gates wears wedding ring in first appearance since divorce announcement", instead of how he was going to save the world (e.g. COVID, Climate changes, ..etc.). Actually, I do not know why the media kept on interviewing him as a pandemic/epidemic expert. It is lucky for us the coronavirus vaccine was created so quickly. Shouldn't the media interview the respiratory Asian epidemiologists to educate us to change our life style and prepare us for the next pandemic/epidemic? What are Americans going to do without a vaccine being created so quickly during the next respiratory pandemic/epidemic?

It seemed Bill Gates has been interested in Vaccines to save lives and Climate changes in order to win the Nobel prize.
Has he or his foundation been doing anything to help the wildlife, and the native species?
The balance of the ecosystem is so important to help the earth. Does he or many philanthropists understand it?

Is the Nobel prize based one's contribution to human beings, not the wildlife, plants, and the earth?

Even without many negative news lately, does Bill Gates think he could win a Nobel prize like Al gore while he lives in such a big house (and own many other houses)?

"Given the high net worth at stake here, there has been teasing conversation on Twitter that Melinda could be behind these reports in a ploy to secure her rightful share of assets given Bill’s alleged misbehavior — but according to attorney Lois Liberman, a partner at Blank Rome LLP, it’s actually highly unlikely that Melinda is behind these reports. In fact, Melinda could have a lot to lose if she ends up being blamed as the source of said reports, depending on how their separation agreement is structured."

I think the division of assets has been determined before the divorce announcement. I think it is structured so as not to upset the market and drive down its value.
