It might seem like an easy question, but the answer can be complicated. Depending on your needs.
The way the Club Wyndham timeshare system works is that there are basically 2 types of ownership (there are others, but I wont complicate things for you):
- Club Wyndham Access (CWA) (aka, Trust)
- Club Wyndham Select (CWS) (aka, deeded ownership)
Inside of Club Wyndham, every resort has a points chart, broken down by room type and seasonality. These charts are set when the resort is built (or a new tower is built) and never changes.
Points are points in terms of booking power. The difference is with CWA, you can book anywhere that has CWA inventory (not all resorts, but most) at 13 months and everywhere else at 10 months. With CWS, you have the ability to book at your HOME RESORT at 13 months, and everywhere else at 10 months.
So the question is, what do you want out of your ownership? How and where do you want to use it? If you know you want to book at some very popular place at very popular times (like Bonnet Creek at Christmas, or one of the ski resorts at New Years, or New Orleans at Mardi Gras), then there may be some compelling reasons for you to buy CWA over CWS. OR buy CWS at the specific resort you want to book at during PEAK times.
Generally, CWS will have lower maintenance fees per 1000 points than CWA, but not always. There's a maintenance fee spreadsheet that shows you what to look for for low maintenance fees.
But remember, points are points at 10 months, they are all exactly the same at 10 months, and if you feel you willl not need to book at >10 months very often or ever, try to get points at the lower MF resorts under CWS and your cost/1000 will be lower for the same stay.
The Club Wyndham website has points charts on each resorts homepage to get an idea of how many points you may need.
Don't confuse yourself by reading about VIP, presidential reserve or margaritaville.
