My New Year's Resolution for 2024 was to obtain a passport. It came in today's mail. :) Only took me until August, but I got it done! Now...where to go? I'm thinking Canada would be easiest, since I live in Maine. I'm thinking likely summer 2026, but could do next summer if the dates align. I'd want Eastern Canada for now...drive to destination in a non-city location. Where should I be looking? I know NOTHING about Canadian timeshares. We'll do one or two of these...and then maybe I'll think about flying to the Bahamas or something similar. :) Never too old to learn!

Unfortunately the furthest east in Canada that there is a timeshare is at Beaupre, just east of Quebec City. We are headed there for the first week in September. There are a couple more in Quebec, closer to Montreal, at Mont Tremblant, then there is one about an hour NW of Ottawa Ontario (Calabogie) and the rest of the Ontario ones are north of Toronto.

Even some of the ones in Ontario are less than 500 miles away, though. That's a good day's drive, but certainly do-able. (I'm on the coast of Maine.) You'll have to let me know what you think of the Beaupre one. :) Ms. Crews is going to be a world traveler one of these days! I should have added that I own in both II and RCI, so could trade in through either system.

Isn't there still a timeshare at White Point Beach Resort in Nova Scotia? I guess it no longer trades in RCI, so perhaps it is not on anyone's radar anymore?

Yes, I will try to write review. We were just at the Calabogie one last May and enjoyed the location, right on a lake, just an hour from Ottawa. We live about an hours drive east of Collingwood/Blue Mountain so we dont vacation there, just go for day trips. Out of town visitors could use the Collingwood timeshares to explore Toronto but it would be a long drive (2.5hrs each way) and in some crazy traffic in the summer time. There is a commuter train (the GO Train) out of Barrie (less than an hours drive from Collingwood) to Toronto which could be better than driving right downtown.

No, I believe years ago they either opted out of RCI or stopped being a timeshare altogether and operate just as an independent resort/hotel. I haven't been able to find it through RCI searches for many years.

I think they only left RCI earlier this year.

I do remember reading that post now, but is seems like in forever that White Point has shown up on any searches, for any time of the year, for me.

Do you drive, missyrcrews? Why wait to use your new passport?
This year you can head up the coast of Maine, cross the border into Canada at Calais, then spend a few days in New Brunswick. Campobello Island? Go past the city of St. John to Fundy Nat'l Park and Hopewell Rocks.
Plan on a longer trip for '25 or '26.

I do drive. I also work at Target almost full-time (means my weekends are usually booked), and I'm a teacher. We are rapidly approaching Back To School, which means I can't really zip around too much in what remains of this summer. I'm heading to Pollard Brook on Sunday for my last hurrah!

I'm thinking of Lubec to Campobello, though. That's what prompted this whole thing. I stood at Lubec last summer, and could see/smell Campobello...but I couldn't set foot there. I've already got trips booked for Labor Day and Indigenous People's Day, and Vet's Day may be too late. But there's always next year! The planning is half of the fun!

The Beaupré Resorts are near Mont St Anne ski resort and about an hour drive away from Quebec City.. They are mediocre in standards but make a good base camp for day trips in the region that are doable by car.
North of Montreal, about 1.5 hours, is Mont Tremblant which is also a ski resort but much more interesting to visit itself than Beaupre and with more lodging choices as well. Montreal is close enough for day trips too.
Summer is very busy in both areas so this year would not be a possibility, it would have to be in 2025.

Our week at St. Anne Sunseekers gave us a great week of exploring, even though the accommodations were a "C".-Quebec the city, Montmorency Falls, and a drive up to Saguenay with a stop at Tadoussac where we saw a pod of Beluga whales! Last June we booked an exchange week at Auberge du Lac Morency in St. Hippolyte but stayed only a few days due to smoke followed by heavy rains.
(Must be something about "morency" for us- in Paris last August we had a vrbo stay on Rue de Montmorency!)
