Today I received an email stating the VSE guest fee actually only applies to VSN memberships. Now, when reading the original email about the guest fee I see the message came from VSE and they state the fee is for VSN memberships.

I'm confused though. When I called to complain about the fee, I was told the fee was for <certain reasons I can't remember well enough to quote> and I was never told it didn't apply to our account. I was also told I was a member of VSN.

How can that be, and what is the difference between the two titles? If I google Vistana Signature Network, I see a lot of VSE URLs ...

The closest I can tell is shown here https://www.vistana.com/destinations where at the bottom is the following:
"This material is intended to encourage the sale of Vistana Signature Experiences ... Vistana Signature NetworkTM is a registered Exchange Program"

This page is VSN specific but isn't this the same as for VSE? The URL doesn't in any way distinguish VSE from VSN, so why is the elite program referenced as VSN when it's on a VSE website?
https://www.vistana.com/near-elite/terms

Does this mean if we make a reservation:
  • in our name as owner at any location there is no fee (I know this is correct)
  • in anyone else's name who is not the titled owner(s) at our home resort there is no fee (I think this is correct, would this be a VSE reservation?)
  • in anyone else's name who is not the titled owner(s) at a location OTHER than our home resort there IS a fee (I think this is correct, would this be a VSN reservation?)

I'm going to answer your question, but to avoid having 2 threads about the fee, I'm also going to close it.

Don't get bogged down in VSE/VSN - it doesn't really matter.

The fee is only on GUEST confirmations that are not in your name:

Home Resort Reservation guest confirmations = FREE

Staroption Reservation guest confirmations = PAY

Here is the ongoing thread where you can respond or ask more questions if you wish:
