what are the best timeshares in australia.
used to hgvc type quality

could use HH points for hotels but prefer a time share

can use
Trading Places
II
DAE
RCi
SFX
HGVC
Wyndham

What would you recomend ?

DAE

There is also another Australian Exchange company called interchange. There is no fee to join

I used to own at Tangalooma Island Resort - never got the chance to go yet but hope to someday. It did not look fancy but it was very interesting - they feed the wild dolphins from the beach.

Kerami Gardens is another one that looked appealing to me.

I own (AVC) Accor Vacation Club points, am a relatively new owner but think they are pretty good in terms of quality. There are 15 locations in Australia and they are one of the newer timeshare groups (8 years old). Only available through II.

Novotel Rockford Palm Cove Resort, North Queensland
Twin Waters Beach Houses, Sunshine Coast
Legends Hotel, Gold Coast
Turtle Beach Resort, Gold Coast
Novotel Pacific Bay Resort, Coffs Harbour
Novotel Lake Crackenback Resort, Snowy Mountains
Grand Mercure Apartments Pinnacle Valley Resort, Victorian High Country
Grand Mercure The Links, Lady Bay
Grand Mercure Apartments Busselton, Geographe Bay
Grand Mercure Apartments The Vintage, Hunter Valley
Grand Mercure Apartments Pinnacle Apartments, Darling Harbour
Grand Mercure Apartments Forest Resort, Hepburn Shire
Grand Mercure Apartments Flinders Lane, Melbourne
Grand Mercure Basildene Manor, Margaret River
Grand Mercure Mount Lofty House, Adelaide Hills

http://www.accorvacationclub.com.au/destinations/ this site gives you some names of the resorts and locations. Check out II for more detailed info and pictures of the actual rooms.

IMO it is best to work out where in Australia you wish to travel and look at what is available in that location. Some of the timeshares are in out-of-the way places and require a car and a significant drive to get there.

DAE! I just ran a search on their website for Australia 2009. It came up with over 300 availabilities. DAE has an office in Australia. Actually, I think that's where their home office is.
If you will only be happy with HGVC level quality, you might want to talk with Donita (if she's still with them) or one of their experienced vacation counselors before you confirm an exchange with DAE. They don't have quality filters like II and RCI do.

Adding to this thread.....I may need an exchange for check in August 8 or 9, 2009.

Wouldn't this be a low season time in Australia? Should it be an easy exchange?

Dd may be traveling to Sydney for a competition; if so, we'd like to add a week on after.

There appears to be great availbility on the "Goldcoast". Is this the area of the Great Barrier Reef? Would this be a good place for a mom and teen girl?

Thanks

JT
