I just looked this up yesterday! Cliff is having skin cancer surgery Monday, and his cheek looks so horrible I'm afraid they will need to go so deep he won't feel like eating Christmas dinner, so I'm planning an Italian one-dish meal that will be easily be put off until the 26th (my parents 66th anniversary) or the 27th (Dad's 87th birthday). Anyway since I was up on a step stool looking to be sure the tin of marjoram could be found, I decided to pull everything out, wipe down the shelves and make a large ziplock of everything we never use and will be dumped when we go to the old folks home. Brand "new" bottle of Cream of Tartar went into that bag. I have never made anything with meringue in my life, so not sure why we have it. But it made me wonder what the heck was in it so I googled it. The bag of rejected spices will need to be our secret -- if Cliff finds out he'll be sure the Chinese Five Spice, Saffron and whole fennel seed, not one bottle younger than 20 years, will have to come with us.
