Hopefully this will be helpful to someone…we got down to the last 300 bonus points from our last upgrade and assumed worst case we could convert to HH points. Lo and behold a $150 fee. Couldn’t use it for a room due to the 3 day minimum. I called guest services and they tried to apply it to my maintenance fees ($20 only) but since we had paid them they couldn’t apply it. I asked if they couldn’t do a credit? Nope. Nor could they refund me $20 of what we paid and then apply it… So just FYI if you are going to have a little balance your best bet is to apply to MF through guest services but be sure not to pay them first. Hey $20 would be pretty exciting if you found it on the street! PS I Just joined TUG so y’all are kind of stuck with me now. Haha!

That a bummer, i had a similar situation many years ago when we purchased our HGV timeshare direct. This is challenge due to the way HGV setup the program to not allow bonus points to be combined with regular points for reservations, that almost guarantees there will be leftover unused points.. Some other program such as MVC allow you to combine bonus and regular points. That also allows MVC to offer up points as a presentation incentive.

We were in the same position when we first bought into HGVC and had leftover bonus points. We ended up converting them into RCI which gave us extra 2 years to use them plus combine with club points. That was 10 years ago, so I don’t know if rules have changed.

Can you save Bonus Points?
No. Quoting the Rules...
"Any unused Bonus Points expire two (2) years from the date of issuance... and cannot be reinstated once expired."
----------------------------
Typically, BP's are an inducement to buy directly (retail) from a sales-weasel for an absurd sum of $$.

Uses of Bonus Points:
-- to make Home Resort Priority and Club Reservations
-- for RCI Exchange reservations
-- for ClubPartner Perks (such as cruises)
-- for HGV Max Members to make HGV Max reservations
-- for conversion to Hilton Honors (1 BP to 16 HH)
-- as a credit toward maintenance fees owed

Can bonus points be converted for a HH reservation? It would convert at 1 to 13 and 300 wouldn't do much. There would still be a fee to call in and make the reservation but another option for using them, if it is possible. The nice part about being elite premier is that you can convert to them to HH for free.

The fee is $150. Didn’t realize exchange was an option but the cost is probably not worth it for so few.

I have 768 left over club points HGVC points for a EOY unit. Any thoughts?

They were having some sales in Orlando and other places, Vegas I think was one…if you get a studio you should be able to stay at least the three day minimum…tack it on to a short term bargain from the forums here/or make another reservation with your regular points before or after …otherwise some folks say you can exchange it somehow? RCI is built into the HGV …connects right up to the website and that might give you more time and more options…I’d call guest services for help but they weren’t much help when I called…

I let 18,000 saved points expire on 12/31 and chose not to convert to RCI as I didn't see anything in there that looked appealing.

You couldn't convert to HH? That was 288,000 HH points.

Uhg. Why not transfer to Hilton Honors? That has to of hurt. Or were they resale?

Doesn't matter if it resale. You can use the points exactly the same as retail.

The way that I read this is that Saved points can not be converted to HH points.

Per the rules:

Saved points may only be used for reservations at Club Resorts during the Home Resort Priority, Hilton Club Priority, Club and HGV Max reservation windows, for RCI exchange reservations, RCI deposits and for ClubPartner Perk reservations for travel within the year in which they have been saved. Additional point saving options may be offered for previously Saved ClubPoints.

Saved points may not be used to make a reservation during the Home Week Priority Reservation Window, current year Hilton Honors reservations and are not eligible for conversion to Hilton Honor points.

I can’t transfer to Hilton Honors with mine.

Where do you own? I have never heard of anyone with resale not being able to convert to HH. We have resale at Blvd and Craigendarroch Lodges and can.

I could have converted my bonus points to HH for a $150 fee. Not worth it in my case. Sad to hear about the 18000 points. My husband would have had us in a studio for six weeks with those…or more in the off season. Just doesn’t seem right they can’t be extended. So so sorry!

I wonder if you could have used those toward a cruise? I was just looking at the HGV partner cruise site and those 18,000 points would have saved you $1,170 on a cruise. Not great use of them but better than losing them.

I need to do deal with my leftovers, I looked at booking a cruise.
It's merely a discount coupon, but beats losing them altogether.
I'm also gonna look for an RCI place, even if it is only mediocre.

The Bay Club
Thanks. I didn't know that about Bay Club. It is an affiliate but I thought it was treated the same as the others. For Craig Lodges, it is fixed week and autobooked. When I cancel the reservation and I can cancel up to 2 years out, the points are added to my bucket of points in HGV then when I go to the Points Management/Manage Points screen, they are all available to save, deposit in RCI, or convert to HH. What does it look like for you when you go to that screen? If you aren't Elite Plus or Elite Premier, then you can only convert all of next years points, for a specific ownership, by 12/31 this year or use them at 1:13 ratio for a specific Hilton reservation. I am curious if it is a Bay Club thing or a system thing that is preventing it. What I mean by system is that maybe it is allowed but you need to have your entire point allocation for next year in the account to be eligible to convert this year.

Correct I saved them for a two week vacation in 2022 and due to flight cancellations we lost 3 days of vacation and the points were left over. Couldn't convert and just didn't have an option to use and RCI didn't have availability for what we wanted. Couldnt add on to Hawaii this year for our home week because all sold out for extra 3 days.
