What hotel would be an OK place to stay from the Naples area down to Key West in March?

My flight has changed multiple times since I booked my vacation for Key West from March 13 to March 20 and the latest new flight has now moved to a later flight that will get into Fort Myers too late for me to make the drive down to Key West. All of the folks that are familiar with the drive from FT. Myers airport to Key West, can you recommend a go hotel to stay at one night on March 12, 2022?

If you plan to drive Alligator Alley (I-75), stay in Naples.
I like the Ritz-Carlton, but of course, it's a tad pricey.
All major brands are there. Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn would do.

If you plan to drive historic Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) thru the Everglades:
Marco Island - The Hilton or J.W. Marriott - becomes a good option.
.

What time will you arrive Ft Myers?
I wouldn't want to drive Hwy 41 across FL at night.
The drive from RSW to Naples is less than an hour.

How many are in your group

Re-reading OP -- wondering why you chose RSW over MIA or FLL if you are headed for Key West.

I had free airline tickets and they could only be used out of RSW vs MIA or FLL so to save money I choose that option...

Depends on how late you get in and how far you want to drive. Once you get past Naples you have to go all the way to the Ft Lauderdale area before you will find a hotel. There are hotels right off 75 the last exit in Naples before going over the Alley. ( I live about 4 miles from that exit and can make it to RSW in 35 -40 minutes)
Another suggestion: If you don’t need a car in Key West consider staying over in or near Ft Myers Beach and taking the Key West express down in the morning.

I've stayed at hotels near Dolphin Mall with a short access to the Florida Turnpike when I travel from Clearwater to the Florida Keys - e.g. Marriott Courtyard and Hilton Gardens Inn

The new flight on Saturday, gets into RSW at 11:30am, and I'm happy to say I found a place to stay.

My college friend saw a post I made on Facebook to another college friend asking when we were next going to be in FL? and when I mentioned that we were going down to Key West in March, my college buddy that lives in Naples for the winter, immediately called me and said "Hey can you move your flight a day up and then you can stay a day with us in Naples and then early the next morning drive to the Keys" I immediately took his offer, he was so excited as we had just gotten together this past December and he now has a whole afternoon planned on his boat for us.

So win win for me....thanks everyone for trying to help me out... I never like to burdon friends or relatives and just make hotel reservations vs asking to stay at someones home, but hubby told me that since he called and really wanted us to stay, we should do it.

Driving to Naples from Ft Myers on Hwy 41 is not driving across Florida--it's driving south on a very nice highway. It's at least 4 lanes, there are many restaurants, shops and hotels on the ride.

41 Tamiami trail also goes across the state, all the way to Miami. 41 between Naples and fort Myers has an awful lot of stop lights.

That sounds wonderful!
I'm like you -- very reluctant to ask even family for an overnight.

I actually like the drive and have done it a few times as my sister in law retried down to Islamorada, but my mother in law is in bad shape and in order for us to be able to go on this vacation, my sister and brother in law are flying up to stay with her for the month of March to give my hubby and his other sister that lives in MI a break from staying 24/7 at mother in law 's condo.

I swear this is one of those things I inherited from my father. He always told me you never want to be the guest everyone dreads by overstaying your welcome...
