What happens if an exchange doesn't "hit"

Greetings. I have been a Marriott Timeshare owner in Myrtle Beach since 2004, and recently bought in Ft Lauderdale (marriott) - I am interested in getting into the Interval "trade" business with the addition of Ft Lauderdale

A question: What happens if you do a "deposit first" and say 40 or 30 or 20 days out, your Interval request has not been fulfilled. Are you "stuck" with using the week that you deposited (or losing it). Do people ever lose weeks because they cannot get a match??

Thanks
Wesley

You have 2 years to use a deposited week, so you would only lose it if you don't make an exchange within 2 years after the check-in date of the deposited week. It doesn't matter that you have passed your requested date for an exchange.

Yes, people sometimes do lose deposits. I think there is a lot of that happening now, because people can't afford to travel.

You usually can't get your deposited week back - once you deposit it, it belongs to the exchange Co.

Another option is to do a "request first," then you don't deposit your week, until the week you request comes through.

For lots more info. see the II FAQ at the top of the Exchanging Board.

but I can add to ormodify my request, right

but I can add to ormodify my request, right - so if nothing has hit in 6 - 8 months I can add exchanges more likely to hit, right??

thanks so much for the response

Sure - you can change as many times as you want, but for the best results, put in all your acceptable datess & resorts in at the very beginning.

For lots of info. about the way II works, see the II FAQ at the top of the Exchanging Board.
