What happened to Holiday Group

Was looking for some old paperwork and came across documents for the RHC points I bought for Holiday Group. I don't think they are in business anymore and just curious to see if anyone know what happened to them.

They went out of business. Bankruptcy, I suppose. You can't sell timeshares for $3000-4000 when the market says they are worth $1. Their website was up for a while but no activity or inventory.

That is what I suspected but good to know.

They accepted too much m. fee liability by accepting developer trade ins (and properly transferring them into the company name). When the resale market turned, the annual liability was just too much to maintain against slumping sale profits.

I was one of the last people to actually get the timeshare I bought from them. Excuse after excuse and it took 9 months to close my worldmark since they were juggling avoiding bankruptcy. If I hadn't been obnoxiously persistant I would have got burned for around $5000. As it was I had to make up the back maintenance fees for 6 months so about $300. It was extremely close.

Yeah I think they are not very selective and went for volume rather than quality.

Does anyone know if the people there left the market or is involved in some other TS sales? Might be one to avoid if same people involved since they seem to have left some people hanging.

I wouldn't necessarily avoid anyone who worked there and has moved on. As RichardM posted, they were caught in a trap when the resale market turned.

I believe they were above-board in their dealings for the most part, until they got trapped when the market started its downward spiral. In the interim, they were doing the right thing in moving inventory into their name and paying m/f until sales were made. They probably should have shut the doors earlier to save a few stragglers some grief.

There are many on this board (including me) who purchased through them and had a good experience, when the going was good.

One of my resorts is still trying to take back an interval titled to David Skinner, the owner. Ironically, it's the same interval I won from them on eBay several years ago but was never able to get possession of. They did refund my money.

Maintenance fees haven't been paid in years and it's really hurting the rest of the owners since it's a very small resort. Hope the foreclosure will finally happen soon.

I don't mean the rank and file staff but the owners of Holiday Group.

I bought a few from them and they have worked for me even though the actual RHC points contract is of very little resale value currently.. Have used it to book city timeshares I liked.
