What can we do with EEE points?

I know this has been asked a number of times but we are still confused. We just finished closing on our fixed week and are already booked for our week next year. Along with the purchase came 1,670 EEE points that appears they expire in March, 2022. We have not received our welcome package from Hyatt yet so hoping someone can briefly explain (if that's possible) what are options may be. Thank you!!

The EEE points are used exclusively for reservations in Interval International. You will need your Interval account activated in order to use these points. You can then view resorts and make reservations at any non-Hyatt resort within the Interval system. Any reservation must be made prior to the expiration date. The table below shows how many points are needed for the different room types. The majority of rooms are going to be in the Red Time.

Thank you! Does that mean that the previous owner moved them to Interval or would they have automatically moved there somehow? I still have to sign up for Interval. Looks like we can get a couple decent vacations with those points. If we do not use them all, are they lost?

Yes, the previous owner would have moved them there. They do not automatically transfer. Moving them to Interval is a way to preserve them before they expire with Hyatt.
You do not have to 'sign up' with Interval. The Interval account comes with your Hyatt membership. It is paid as part of your membership dues. You will just have to activate (log in) your account once your membership is complete.
If you do not use your points by the due date, they will expire and be lost. Interval does have an way to pay an extension fee($99) which will extend the life for ~6mos. But I am not sure this applies to Hyatt points...

Thank you again! I actually understand exactly what you instructed. I have read a number of threads and none state it so clearly. It appears I need a Solicitation # to set up my Interval account. I assume that will come with my welcome package from Hyatt.

I don't know how close you are to completing the process, but if you are close, you should call Hyatt and inquire about your Interval accnt. Often the account is ready to activate prior to them providing you the information...

Just got confirmation today of transfer and just signed up on Hyatt. I will give them a call and see if they have the information to register on Interval. I get errors when I try without an assigned number from interval. May be too soon.

Our transfer is now completed and we are signed up on both the Hyatt and the II websites. I have been researching and still confused in regard to some questions/comments:

1. When we log into II, I cannot see any reference to the EEE points that do show on our Hyatt account. I see in recommendations it says to "deposit" points now and schedule reservations later. I was told on another thread that you don't move EEE points into II but this seems to contradict that.

2. When I go to view any potential places to make reservations on II, it only shows $ amounts for the places and not points. I am obviously missing something.

3 I know we will not be able to use all of our EEE points before their expiration date. How do we purchase eplus in II so we can delay the usage of the EEE points?

4. I also see that my II account has the incorrect week # showing. I assume I must contact II to get that corrected?

5. I read that once the purchase of a timeshare is completed, Hyatt sends out a welcome package. Is that correct and any idea how long it will take to receive that? That may answer most of the many questions that keep coming up.

If anyone can shed any light on the above, it would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Check your purchase agreement fine print. If the points were EEE, they may not transfer.

1. Your points do NOT show in Interval, they only show on the Hyatt website. Whenever you book something from Interval, it automatically removes the points from you Hyatt account.

2. When you see places the have prices attached, it means that you are looking at what are called "Getaways". These are extra vacations you can take by paying the cash price. They do not cost you points, just cash. These are not trades..

3. When you select a trade in interval, during the completion process, it will ask if you would like to purchase eplus. You can also purchase eplus after you have completed the trade.

4. Yes, you will have to work with Hyatt about any errors on your account.

5. Yes, they will send a welcome package, but it could take a month or more. The package will not likely answer the detailed questions you are asking. Your best resource is to continue asking here on Tug.

Thank you!!

For #3, just so your EEE pts won't expire, make placeholder exchanges as far into the future as you can find. Add the E-plus to retrade into something you want, up to 12 months past your original exchange check-in date. So that original exchange check-in date is important to give yourself more time.

Am I able to use the points required for a studio and then pay the larger unit fee? Or do I need to book exactly what I want and let it be what it is?

This thread is over two (2) years old. To lotus921v, suggestion only, I would start a new thread and ask this question.

There are very few "hacks" for owners. The system was set up to be as hack-proof as possible. Here's one thing you *can* do if you have spare Interval points. Make a reservation -- preferably someplace you like -- as far in the future as possible. Buy the optional "e-plus" trip insurance ($90) at the time of booking. Then cancel sometime in the far future and rebook.

There is no way to buy points; or pay the difference if you lack points. You can buy getaways, which don't cost points. Or you can use your points and pay the exchange fee.

Finally, depositing into Interval is a one-way trip. But you get two years to decide what to do with them.

I think the best practice is to spend all your points as soon as you receive them each year. You do less fighting with the procrastinators who own the same week as you.

No. Yes.

If they don't show a 1bd or 2bd, you can call Interval and ask if they have two studios. Costs 10 points less than a 1bd that way. I booked three studios in China for a family reunion. One of the more interesting vacations.

If we take my mother-in-law with us on a trip, we typically book two studios. I don't want to share a room with her. Much better to send her on her way each night after dinner. Kitchen facilities typically suffer this way. But timeshare kitchens are usually mediocre anyway. As long as I have a pan that isn't beat all to hell and some sort of cooker, I can get by.

You cannot book in Interval using points then upgrade without more spending points. This is different than trading in a studio or 1 br or 2br - you are using points. As Scoop said, you cannot game the system.

The only time I have ever been able to upgrade without points was when I got Interval replacement certificates during covid. I was able to upgrade these when booking - because I was no longer using points but instead booking with a certificate.
