I am a deeded weeks owner at several Marriott resorts in Hawaii some of which give me the option to covert my week to points which I did last year to add on 3 days to my week at Maui ocean club for this February. In doing so I had 250 points left that weren’t enough for another day. I decide to bank the 250 points thinking that I would try and do the same thing that I did last year and use the banked points in addition to the converted week points that I thought I could do for 2027. To do this I needed to reserve my ocean front villa first, backing up to a week that is reserved 2 years out at Kona coast resort, which I tried to do and couldn’t because it was unavailable 13 months beforehand. I had to book my garden view villa first, which I was going to use for points, and my ocean front villa the 2nd week, which precluded me using points because of the lack of value for my garden view villa giving me enough days to fill the gap between Kona Coast resort and Maui Ocean club. In reading what Marriott says, it appears that the only way I can use the banked points is toward another reservation within 1.5 years. My question is whether there is another way to extract some value to my otherwise worthless 250 banked points? Thanks for any suggestions.

Just to clarify, you’re wanting to make a 2027 reservation with 2026 banked points? Could you elect 2028 points and then borrow enough of what you need to get the reservation you want when combined with the 250 banked?

If they are like mine from last year you can brainstorm ideas and offer them to family all year and then wave goodbye to them in December.

Have a look at post #2 in this thread. Also recommend you do a chat on the owners site. Type agent to get a human.

Thanks everyone for your suggestion’s. I did do a chat with Marriott and got a reply that I could trade for 40,000 bonvoy points then in the next paragraph it said I couldn’t trade for bonvoy points because I had elected to use points from my deeded week and that precluded me from trading for bonvoy points which makes no sense. The explanation for this was that I could have traded my week for bonvoy points but once I elected to convert my week to club points this prevented me from trading my club points to bonvoy points.
It looks like I will try to reverse the order of my reservation to occupy the oceanfront villa the first week and try to convert my garden view villa to points and get about 4 days of oceanfront to extend my stay. This is a long shot for it to happen.
I had not thought about borrowing points from my 2028 week to obtain 7 days of ocean front usage for the first week to get me to the 2nd week. This to will be a long shot as both of these scenarios are at the 12 month out mark for highly sought after weeks at the Maui Ocean Club during whale watching season.
Most likely what I will wind up doing, after trying to change things, is staying in my original reservation's and saying goodbye to the 250 club points as tuition costs that reaffirm my belief that the points system is a ripoff.

If you have an upcoming resy in the same Use Year that your banked points are in (2027?), at a resort where you can use points for a resort credit, you could rent 75 points from that same Use Year, to get your total to 325, which would get you $110 in resort credits. Would likely cost you around $55 or so to rent the 75 points, but at least you can get some value out of your points that way, via “free” drinks and/or food at the resort.
