What Are the Differences Between Realism and Impressionism?

About 42.3 million dollars per price average
 
Some art patrons like fuzzy pictures.

Others prefer scratchy pictures.

I used to paint in a realism manner. To me, realism is like a photograph and impressionism is more open in interpretation - - less detail, but lots of feeling. But I like both. I aspire to make a "copy" of Starry Night at some point.
