The construction at the Westin Riverfront on Avon is progressing rapidly. Last I counted, there were 4 large cranes working in the property. I attended the owners update at the Sheraton Mountain Vista where I got a lot of information plus 6,000 starpoints.

The hotel part of the property should be ready in 14~16 months, and the timeshare part one year later. The pre-construction sales should start in the first quarter of 2008, and although no firm prices are available, the indication was that they will be in the 65,000 to 70,000 range.

I saw the brochures and prices being asked for the side of the property where you can buy a whole apartment (not a timeshare), and the prices were in the $1M and above, depending on the view, floor, and area.

For those who like skiing, it seems like a perfect location since the gondola will leave right from the hotel. Not exactly ski-in and ski-out, but close enough.

No A/C

Starwood Corp put a nix on the A/C project about three weeks into it.

When we took a tour they seemed to be almost sold out. We considered the 2BR Lakeside Terrace across the street but didn't go for it.

Deli would be nice but I know nothing about it. The ski shop on property was great. We were there almost daily since it was convenient.

We loved Avon and will be back...

When we did the owner's update, they said they had a couple of EOY units available at the SMV, but not a single EY unit. They also indicated that the deli is being planned for later this year.

We stayed at the Lakeside Terrace and they didn't have A/C either. No big deal in the winter and early spring, but I bet it can get hot in the summer.

The ski shop at SMV is indeed very convenient. We needed the skis for two days early in the week, and two days at the end of the week, and they just let us keep them for the whole time while charging us for only 4 days.
