Westin Lagunamar not honoring timestamps?

I've managed to get ahold of the governing documents for WKORN, all 709 pages worth. Way, way down on page 553 is the 'Vistana Signature Network Disclosure Guide' which lays out the rules for the vacation club. On page 572 is 'Section 4.6 Confirmations; Accommodation Preferences'.
Here is what it says;

Confirmations will be provided to the Primary Contact for each Network Member by Owner Services to confirm all reservations. Except for Owners who have a right to receive a reservation for a specific Unit, Owner Services will not assign a specific Unit until the time of check-in. Special Unit assignments, such as ground level Units, cannot be guaranteed, but will be noted as a preference in the reservation system. .....

Hi @maph & other Vistana members / forum readers
RE : "Cannot be Guaranteed"

The catch with All Timeshares [Excluding Fixed Units / Fixed Weeks] is that (in a peak season / 100 % full situations) the room
assignment is subject to the unit location someone checks out of the morning of your arrival.

Personal example- [We own Mayan Palace / Vidanta. They attempt to use room assignments as a carrot for presentation sign up]
A few years ago we checked into their MP-PV Marina location after 6 pm. My wife had just turned down going to a presentation while I was doing credit card paperwork.
We were assigned a closest to the ocean 4th floor one bedroom with 3 Juliet balconies with large sliding doors [There are only 7 of these units / 1 per floor]
These units cannot be combined into a two bedroom as there is no lock-off hotel room beside them / unlike the rest of the units at both buildings at this resort ]

My assumption is that everyone immediately before us had a hotel unit or a 2 bedroom reservation and / or this was one of the last units cleaned that day.

Sometimes you get lucky & sometimes you don't - based on available units.

I always request an upper floor.

We had bottom floor once, but it was a new resale purchase, so no surprise there because it closed in August, and the reservation was February. Locking it off happened to be too late to get any better view, but it was fine.
I have a quick question on your February bottom floor booking as I’ve bought resale and it’ll close in about 8-12 weeks and we’re hoping to book November - same year use as maintenance fee spent during purchasing.

When you got the February ground floor was that using the annual maintenance fee from the August closing year? ( prior year to the February travel dates )

I’ve already requested the November 2026 date since we paid all fees and provided all notarized documents. I just don’t want to lose the 2026 annual maintenance fee spent by not having a 2026 booking and I’m hoping your experience included them honouring the Annual Maintenance fee for the prior year on your Feb booking.

Added complication for us is it’s a fixed week (week 15) that comes up soon and months before closing.

Thanks.
Brian
