I am not an owner of any Starwood properties but I was speaking with my sister who owns 2 Starwood locations other than Hawaii and came up with a question. She is thinking of going to Maui in the future and staying at the Westin Ka'anapali. While we were talking about the accommodations at other Starwood properties she said she liked the 1 bedroom unit with the lockoff because the studio side bed was in a separate room from the sleeper sofa. She has a large family and usually uses the 1 bedroom and lockoff together so if the younger kids retire early in the studio bedroom they are separate from her older daughter who stays on the sleeper sofa. The other kids stay on the sleeper sofa in the other unit and the parents in the bedroom. She said it sort of works out as 4 separate sleeping areas. She also said her & her husband have stayed in studio units with another couple and they had their privacy due to the bed and sleeper sofa being in separate rooms.
I told her that I thought the Westin Ka'anapali was set up differently. It appears that in pictures and according to the unit layouts I have seen, the sofa and the bed are in one large room. She was a little disappointed so I said I would ask the group at TUG to get the straight answer.
Are the lockoff units one open room or is the bedroom separate from the sofa area? Also I read somewhere that there are 3 bedroom units at the Westin Ka'anapali. Maybe that would work better for her.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
