Headed to Weston Desert Willow resort for the first time next month and looking for some pool advice--what is the best pool for lounging/reading/cocktails? I would just as soon avoid heavy kids traffic. I know there is a small "quite pool", but what about the other options? Any advice as to adjacent buildings to aim for?

Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions/guidance!

Bldg. 8 and 9 overlook the 'quiet' pool but they are further away from the main bar/big pool, tennis courts, lobby & market. (There isn't a bar at the quiet pool). WDW has shuttles (golf carts) that can take you where you need to go within the resort. All are in walking distance but maybe not when it's 110+. Bldg. 6 is convenient to everything but request top floor. Anything lower and the trees and the bldg across from it block your view. There's lots to do around Palm Desert/Palm Springs. But restaurant service can be slow at the popular spots simply due to lack of kitchen staff. Maybe in July it'll be better, not as busy. Enjoy!

If you want cocktails and you will be buying from onsite food and beverage, you are limited to the Mirage Pool and Palo Verde Pool. I don't recall Ironwood or Quiet Pools having beverage service. But we were there when things were still impacted by Covid, but July is also low season so they may not have all the onsite Food and Beverage open.

I've been to WDW many times. For just lounging and reading, nothing beats the quiet pool. Pre-Covid, it had beverage service. But even without it, that's the only pool I would recommend. There WILL be lots of kids at the other pools, even in mid-summer.

Ironwood has a full bar.

Do we know if it has reopened yet? The resort update page just indicates;
The Pool Bar/Grille is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (subject to change).

I just finished a stay there and I can confirm it's open.

@gravitar How about Agave, the restaurant/bar? It looks like that's still closed. Heading there next week....

It's still closed. No word on reopening yet. They will take you on the golf cart to the restaurant at the golf course. It's just burges, wraps and sandwiches though.

Yes, Desert Willow Golf Resort is very nearby - walking distance - but easier via WDW's golf carts. The golf club serves a good breakfast and lunch til 4pm. It's delicious, good drinks, and great views.

Golf cart is probably even better in July!

We will also be at WDW next month. We just got our first email related to our stay, but no real way to provide requests. I know you can do them online in Vistana.com, but with the issues with confirmation numbers and guest names not showing at the resort, I doubt those requests make it down to the resort anymore. Do I just call?

Yes, the WDW front desk can add your request to your reservation. Nothing's guaranteed, of course! Best to provide 2 to 3 choices in order of preference. For example, I always put "top floor" as my first priority. Some like the patios and not having to worry about stairs (altho most bldgs have elevators).
