"Westgate's bad"

More than Westgate being bad, it sounds as if the county is just as bad. They want her to compromise of face the fact the county will authorize Westgate to build around her orphaned condo. This despite they acknowledge Westgate didn't have a valid permit. They want her to compromise or, she can sue Westgate and then be sued back. Sounds like a threat to me. Nothing like seeing the Mr. Seigel has the county commissioners in his back pocket.

What amazes me most about this story is not shaky FL County (...ahem) "behavior", but that Westgate reportedly offered the widow only $150k for her condo. That's mere chump change to Westgate, even if the condo itself is worth only half that amount. Surely, there is much greater loss in subsequently having to inconveniently "finesse" huge construction equipment around the remaining structure --- followed by all the lost time having to "work around" the remaining building. Time is money and Westgate seems to have wasted both by having "short arms, but deep pockets". It all just makes no logical sense to me from a cost / benefit Wastegate perspective.

I'm guessing this would not even be an issue or a story at all if SeaGull's minions had just quietly offered the widow $300k to move --- which is still just chump change for a company with such deep pockets (...and probably just the cost of a handful of elaborate and ornate bathroom and light fixtures at SeaGull's "Versailles" palace).

The County should revoke the demolition permit and require restoration of demolished buildings.
But local governments are based on old feudal system, where lords+nobels run the show.
Seagull is considered a Lord of the Manor. The serf who commented on Westgate may lose his job.
