Hey so my fiance and I went to attended a Westgate timeshare presentation in Orlando Florida this past Wednesday and she really liked it and the guy made it to be a good deal so we bought it out 1200 down and 175 a month it was a quick decision and after sleeping on it it just doesn't sound like a deal that they made it out to be I also found out it is only half a timeshare but the guy made it out to be like I was getting half off of the whole timeshare anyway long story short I want to cancel it can I just go back to the place and tell them I want to cancel or do I have to mail in a letter with all the stuff back to them? I was just going to go to Westgate tomorrow morning and tell them I want to cancel is this a good idea? Or how should I go about it

STAY AWAY from that sales room! They are trained to answer ANY argument, and will promise the moon to keep your money. Make it easy on yourself and mail a rescission letter to the Old Winter Garden Road Ocoee, FL address. Tell them you will, then send their junk back by the cheapest means. Keep any goodies you got for attending the presentation.

You have 10 days to rescind in FL. Do it NOW. Westgate is the worst of the worst of timeshare systems. The product is completely worthless, once you have it, you won't be able to give it away and Westgate charges thousands of dollars to take back a fully paid off deed. Follow the instructions for rescission in the documents or flash drive they sent you. Mail a rescission letter (there's no magic words, just "I am cancelling this contract and rescinding" is fine) via certified mail, return receipt requested. Make sure everyone who sigend the contract also signs the rescission letter. Congratulations on saving thousands of dollars!

PS: If you are interested in owning a timeshare that gets you access to Orando, there are much better systems that can be gotten for free or for pennies on the dollar resale market (Wyndham, Marriott, Vistana, etc). The resorts in these systems are also generally nicer than the Westgate resorts.

Take that trip to the post office to mail it certified return receipt. As soon as it is postmarked, you have legally rescinded.

In addition to USPS Certified Mail, I also suggest sending just a regular stamped (First Class) letter with a Certificate of Mailing. USPS Certified Mail is slow. More important than the method of delivery is multiple methods of delivery. If they have an email or fax option, you can use that too. Don't just rely on one method. If the one method gets lost, it can be stressful. We've seen two situations where people reported USPS Certified Mail as lost by the USPS. Unfortunately neither came back to indicate any resolution so I suspect their letter did arrive or the followup letter that people suggested solved the issue.
