Westgate The Canyons--"exit program"

A friend just told me he gave Westgate $1,600 to prepay a winter ski season week at the Canyons --it happened at the end of his tour when he did not buy a membership.

Does anyone have any experience with Westgate's "exit programs" at that resort? Do they in fact redeem these or is it like many exit programs that make it almost impossible to book a week since they have your money and they simply wanted to earn back the marketing money from a "tour--no sale."?
