We are going to the Vegas Westgate Presentation. They are offering 2 show tickets, $50 Planet Hollywood dinner certificate and $300.00 in chips. Since the show that we want to see will cost $41.95 per ticket, I thought that $45.00 was a good price.

Has anyone experienced Westgate's sales pressure? Of course we are not going to buy, although I would hate to miss the appreciation in a few years as the customer service rep said that we would get, I don't want to have to sing my "no, we can't afford" song more than a couple of times.

We went in Florida quite a few years ago. It was one of the highest pressure sales pitches we've had and the rep got downright rude - saying things like how she'd wasted precious time with her infant daughter to come in to work, etc., etc. I'm pretty thick-skinned so it didn't bother me.

Plan on spending the entire time. As well, they had sort of a continental breakfast thing - personally, I'd be tapping my watch the MOMENT my salesperson came over and letting them know they will get exactly the amount of time you have committed to, including their little snack time.

We did the same deal. You get a lot of good comps on that tour. We got tickets to three different shows and a buffet for two. The pressure wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Same lies, same spiel. Although they do the prepresentation show by the manager. I left that presentation a lot less frustrated than I get with the Berkley group.

Hi, myself and OH attended a Westgate presentation in Orlando a few years' ago to get discounted Disney tix. Had no intention of buying and I really didn't think I was the type of person to be taken in. However, we were staying at a cheap hotel, and the Westgate reps seat you in a lovely room with views out to a beautiful fountain (that area & room are only used for presentations). What did it for me was the quality of the show unit compared to our hotel room, and the Interval International catalogue. The rep made out that it was easy to exchange anywhere in the world for a small admin fee. He also said that he could help us rent out the unit when we didn't want to use it. Also that he would take us out on his boat on the lake on our first stay!

As I said, I didn't think I was the type - so please be very careful!

Westgate in South California ?

As an aside, I heard that "Mr. Seagull" of Westgate bought another timeshare property close to Disney in California. Not sure if this will be another hotel/motel conversion but it will certainly help to expand the Westgate T/S network. Anyone has more details ?

Where is the timeshare booth located in Las Vegas? I am going in two weeks - staying at the Hilton convention centre - I would like to go on this westgate presentation - Thanks

Their booth is or was located at the Cocacola/M&M stores right in front of the rock climbing wall. They usually have people stationed outside on the sidewalk bringing people in.

Between Westgate and Consolodated (Tahiti), they're everywhere. Toss in Hilton, Marriott, Worldmark, Grandview and half a dozen others and you can't get away from them.

The Westgate resorts booths I run across most often are in the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood resort. Since Westgate is being built to connect to that property they're all over Aladdin. As mentioned Westgate also has booths in the Showcase Mall or the building with the big Coke Bottle (across from the Monte Carlo).

Consolidated used to have booths in the Riviera and also in NYNY. They also have booths in the Fashion Show Mall. I'm sure there are many more but I just don't recall where.

Marriott has booths located in the Venetian and the Tropicana. I believe they took over the Polo Towers locations and PT's used to have one in the Imperial Palace as well but, I don't know if Marriott took that one over or not.

Hilton, of course, has booths in resorts that used to be affiliated with Hilton hotels. There are booths in Ceasers Palace, the Flamingo, LV Hilton, and Bally's.

I mention the others because it's unlikely to have more than one timeshare company having booths in one resort. Seems that they claim a resort as their territory.

I went and got taken!!!

I went in Feb past and I too thought I couldn't be swayed, now I own a timeshare and value my TUG membership to keep me on the straight and narrow. Be very careful, I suggest if you have children leave them at your hotel as they let mine climb all over us and I being tired, think I bought just to get out of there. I don't think I will ever go on another timeshare presentation as I worry I can't say no. Not very thick skinned.
Good luck and be very careful.

We spent about 45 minutes at Westgate. The representative was smart not to waste his time once he realized that we owned timeshares that we bought resale. He did ask why we took the presentation. I told him that I wanted to know about Westgate. He did stress the "appreciation" of timeshares in Vegas. He never discussed price.

At least three couples bought while we were there. The newest owners were announced and everybody clapped except my husband and me. I wanted to stand up and shout "TUG". I could not believe it!

Appreciation of timeshares in Vegas. I thought it was not legal to give such bad financial advice. Especially since it is not true. I own at Polo Towers, the Villa's at Polo Towers, HGVC on the Strip and Marriott's Grand Chateau. If those properties apprciated, I'd be selling off the Polo Towers units at the very least.

I guess he must have meant how much owners appreciated having such a nice place to stay at instead of a hotel room. Lord knows timeshares don't actually go up in value.

This may be true for many, but not all TS purchases. I have made a nice profit with two of my DVC contracts I bought in 2001 and sold in 2005.
