We just returned from a wonderful week in Cabo. The weather was a bit cool, but it was actually nice as we saw tons of whales!
In regards to the resort, my husband and I liked it, but there a many things to point out and to be aware of:
1. Lots and lots of stairs. This is NOT the resort for anyone with mobility issues. You have to take the stairs to go everywhere in this resort, including the pools, more stairs to the hot tub, more stairs to the beach (TONS there), and more stairs to the restaurant area.
2. If you trade in, you are likely to get building 2 if it is a busy week and owners have booked that week. They give the owners the ocean front buildings (1 and 3) and only give those buildings to exchangers if there are more units available the owners at the resort. I understand why they do this, and it makes complete sense to me, BUT as en exchanger you are warned. There are about 6 rooms in building 2 that have views (besides the penthouses, which are never on II). 2303, 2304, 3303, 3304, 4403, 4404. These are all Large one bedroom (full kitchen in II as trade) units. We were lucky to get room 2303 and had a nice view, although somewhat blocked from a palm trees that was covered in ivy growing up the trunk.
3. The large 1 bedroom balconies have a hammock and a nice dining table. The glass walls enclosing the patio makes it great for views, but terrible for privacy. (be careful, we walked out in our PJs the first morning and our neighbors were looking right at us).
4. They charge PER MINUTE to make local calls. We did not realize this and spent $9.50 USD for a 7 minute call to book an excursion. ARGH
5. The wifi works GREAT at this resort. We streamed Netflix with NO ISSUES. Big applause for this.
6. The staff is amazing. VERY, VERY good staff with great customer service.
7. Food and drink prices are HIGH. We used our kitchen a lot more than normal because of this.
8. There is a Walmart and Costco right down the street from the resort. We saved a TON OF MONEY shopping at Costco.
9. This is a quiet boutique type resort. If you are looking for a party place, do not exchange into this resort. We liked the quietness of it.
10. The large 1 bedroom unit is nice enough, but nothing spectacular. We found the living room furniture uncomfortable. The best part of the Large 1 bedroom is the larger balcony, and the full size oven for cooking those Costco pizzas.
11. Cab ride into town is $20 each way.
12. Nice washer and dryer in the room that works well. We loved coming home with clan laundry!
13. The massage service on the outdoor area near building 3 was amazing! Highly recommend!
14. During whale season (Mid-December-mid April) you can see whales very close to the resort breaching, jumping, etc. It is an amazing sight! If you have an ocean view room you can see them right from your balcony! We were told the best time for the whales is mid-February to mid-March.
15. No pool towel Nazis at this resort. They leave the pool towels out near the pool and hot tub for you to take as many as you need. Nice to not have to check them out.
That about sums it up. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
