I'm considering an exchange to Welk Resort in Escondido and visited the property yesterday to meet up with friends. The friends were staying in Mountainside and it seemed they needed their car to get about the property. I loved their unit but was somewhat discouraged by the lack of walking paths in and around the property.

Are there plenty of walking trails? Did I simply not see them? Are they more readily available in other phases of the property?

Thx!

We strolled the grounds between the Welk Resort Villas section and Villas on the Green. If I recall, there were sidewalks everywhere, and the grounds were exquisite. It was very relaxing walking around.

As for the Mountain Villas section, I have no idea. Whereas Welk Villas and Villas on the Green were fluid, Mountan Villas was off in its own world. We drove over there just to see the pool area and did not look for any walking paths.

I will be back at Welk Villas in a couple of weeks.

If you exchange into a 2-bedroom unit you will be guaranteed plenty of walking paths.

Thanks, both! The current inventory for the time period I'm looking at are the smaller 1BR side of Villas on the Green or Mountainside. Good to know I can expect walking paths in other areas of the property.

Edited to add Resort Map:

Rhonda, we have stayed in the Mountain Villas and there is a sidewalk/cement path that leads down the mountain to the northwestern section of the Resort Villas. Once you are down there, there are sidewalks all over the property. If you want a more direct route to the Villas on the Green, you can walk along the road on the side of the mountain to the east of the resort. My DW and I take walks every day we are on the property.

Have fun.

Even though folks seem to prefer the quality of Mountain Villas, we like the other sections better for walking. You can walk downhill from the Mountain Villas to the other sections, which is ok if you don't mind the steep walk back up. You can also walk along the mountainside as mentioned above. You can walk around all the lower sections on sidewalks and to and from the downtown area. There are hills but nothing as long and steep as up to the Mountain Villas.
