Welk Resort exchange with II

I keep getting difference advice when I contact Welk resort on trying to get the best trading power with II. Can someone explain to me how the point system works into getting any trading power at all with II since Welk started the point system? I know with Marriott that you would reserve the highest demand weeks, but I can't do that if it's based on points. Has anyone made an exchange with II using their point system? I was hoping to be able to trade the newest Welk resorts, Mountain Villas, that is more luxurious than the other two - Villas on the Green and Lawrence Welk, which would probably have higher trading power. I'm so confused. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm confused too, but I know that if you prepay your mf and then call you can request that a week in say July, be deposited to II, which would be a stronger trader. I haven't yet used that week, still working off a week which ended up being Branson in December and Escondido in September (due to my confusion of how to do this). I would call customer service and ask how to request a week be reserved for Mountain Villas. When we were at Desert Oasis the salesman told us he always does request first, but then I realized I have no idea how you do that with the way they deposit for II. For RCI or other independents you can book the week you want and then deposit it.

When I have made a reservation with Welk I have asked for specific weeks to be deposited with Interval - the rep has said that the availability of these weeks is different from weeks for regular use. So I just try to get a high demand week to deposit.

Does anyone know how Welk renews the Interval membership? I was trying to put in a search that is beyond my current expiration date and was unable to complete it. I already put in a email to Interval, but have not heard back yet.

Thanks!

Danette:)

Same thing happened to me...If II is included in your membership, then you should be listed as a "corporate" member with II and they should automatically know that Welk is billed for your renewal. Everyone has a different renewal month. Try calling an II agent to see if your account is listed this way, and if they say it is not, then call a Welk Owner Services rep to have it fixed.

As far as the deposited weeks... Welk works off of a Bulk Banking system, which is different from many resorts. All the weeks are deposited in advance to encourage higher trading power which is why the inventory for deposits is different from the inventory for booking. It also saves us the time of making a reservation and then trying to deposit. Call early for a summer week. It does have higher trading power, but you can still get where you want to go on any of the other weeks. I always call in January to ask specifically for a June/July/Aug week. If they don't have anymore... a pre banked Sept is better than trying to get a summer week put in last minute.

Well, I finally got someone to try and answer my question. I was told that corporate accounts can only place requests one year out, but then the same person said to call back in January (the request I am trying to put in is for April 2011). When asked to clarify the contradictory statement the rep said well in 2010 I should be able to place a request for 2011. So, I still did not get to place the request (Interval does allow up to 2 years?) and the rep could not extend the expiration date.

Bummer,

Danette

I have a corporate account via Hyatt, and similarly we are allowed to place requests or perform online search only 1 year out. In Jan 2010, I would only be able to request for Jan, 2011, NOT April, 2011.
