As a long time owner would someone please explain 13 months plus 1 day simply to me? I will be making 13 months plus reservations and am chairman club status. I could call MVCI but not sure or trusting their explanations.
Thanks

Points or weeks reservation?

If I understand what you are asking about 13 months + 1 day. You can make a reservation a day in advance of other owners at the same resort if the resort you are really wanting doesn't have Thursday checkin and you pair it with a resort that does have a Thursday checkin. This will allow you to make your 13 month reservations based on the Thursday checkin date by reserving consecutive or concurrent with the resort that doesn't have the Thursday checkin day. If the resort has a Thursday checkin day, then it doesn't matter because everyone at that resort can reserve one day earlier than those resorts that don't have Thursday checkin.

Thanks but still difficult for me to understand!

I don't understand what you mean by 13 months +1 day for weeks reservations, and Chairman's has no effect on reserving weeks. You can only reserve at 13 months prior if you are reserving 2 available weeks that are concurrent (same week) or consecutive (back to back). Otherwise you can only reserve at 12 months.

The actual day you can reserve is the first reservation date for the week you want (Thursday*/Friday), even if reserving for Sat/Sun/Mon*.

This is the only thing to understand.

*If the week has check in days on Mon/Thu.

13 months +1 is for points reservations. Echoing what davidvel said, Chairman's status has no effect on weeks reservations. In order to reserve at 13 months out using weeks you must be making concurrent or consecutive reservations from 2 different contracts. It can't be a studio and 1 BR from the same contract. You can then make reservations 13 months out from the FIRST day of that week using the calendar for that resort. Some resorts/weeks have a fixed start date (ie. Saturday), many have weeks starting on Friday, Saturday or Sunday but some have weeks starting on Thursday (plus some on Monday). ALL units are released at 13 months FROM THE FIRST DAY OF THAT WEEK'S CALENDAR. You just need to have 2 weeks you can reserve together and it doesn't have to be the same resort.

When it comes to reserving Marriott Weeks I have always been somewhat confused by counting the days ahead of check-in and then correlating that to each resort's allowed check-in days, especially if you're working with two or more resorts that have different allowed check-in days of the week (which is where that +1 comes into play.) Prior to the Helpful Tools being made available in our accounts, I would give it my best shot and then post asking all the smarter TUGgers to confirm before I'd call in - and my track record wasn't very good. o_O

So when they introduced the "When Can I Reserve?" Helpful Tools I was thrilled! I gave up all the wasted time thinking about it and happily started letting the website do the work for me. The most important info to remember is fairly simple: for purposes of reservations the Marriott Weeks and Abound Points systems are completely separate from each other, status conferred for one has no bearing on the other, and the Inventory Release dates for one will not be the same as the other.

Talking about Weeks only here (and including the caveat that availability is always in play):

Single Weeks can be reserved 12mos in advance of the first check-in day of your desired resort calendar interval.

Multiple Weeks can be reserved 13mos in advance of the first check-in day of your desired resort calendar interval, provided that you are using two or more Weeks or two or more lock-off components from two or more Weeks. Multiple concurrent/consecutive calendar weeks at different resorts or with check-ins on different days of the week can be booked using the 13-mos window provided that the Weeks you own (regardless of their season designation) line up that way. I have routinely/successfully used the 13mos window to book Barony Gold, SurfWatch Gold and SurfWatch Plat Weeks in various concurrent/consecutive combinations, sometimes with a hotel night or two in between consecutive calendar weeks.

--> Sign in to your owners.marriottvacationclub.com account a couple/few weeks ahead of the 12mos or 13mos Reservation Window that you're wanting to confirm

--> Click on "When Can I Reserve?" under "Plan" in the "USE WEEK(S)" dropdown box. Click "Yes" if the box appears saying "You're about to visit a third-party website ..." **

--> On the next page ignore checking either of the links at the top that say "Weeks Owner" or "Enrolled Owner" because the "Enrolled Owner" selection brings up a page that pertains to Abound Points inventory release. (And if that isn't a completely STUPID and simply WRONG detour for any owners who mean to be using the Helpful Tool for Weeks release dates, I don't know what is. Grrrrr. Marriott, if you're reading ...) Instead simply click on the resort link for your desired first check-in day.

--> On the next page input your desired check-in date for your single Week stay, your multi-Weeks concurrent stay or your first of a multi-Weeks consecutive stay. The 12mos and 13mos Inventory Release dates will auto-populate. Mark your calendar to be ready at 9AM Eastern on the release date, and good luck. :)

*Note above that box: "If a release day falls on a weekend, or a holiday that Owner Services is closed, inventory will be released the following business day."

*Note that single Weeks can be instantly reserved online; multi Weeks cannot. There is an option online to request multi-Weeks reservations using the 13-mos window but those aren't processed until the phone queue is cleared on the release dates, so don't use that option for anything other than the lowest demand periods.
