We need ground transportation in Dominican Republic (DR)

Long story short... we'll be flying into Santiago (STI)... arriving 10:52 pm, Thurs., March 9... and need to get to Puerto Playa / Rui Merengue Resort (RMR). We're scheduled for a late arrival at RMR, but RMR will not assist in any way to get us there.

Since this is our first visit to DR... and although we've attempted to pre-arrange transportation to RMR... we've been totally unsuccessful. And we prefer not renting a car (very expensive for even the smallest car)... and driving on unfamiliar roads, returning the car, etc.

Thank you in advance for any advice you may offer.
