My husband and I will be going to a conference in a few years to Washington DC. We have lots of things we want to see, so will likely stay an extra week. The conference has a host hotel, of course, but we might consider trading our week in Maui for a week in DC.
Questions. Are there timeshares in the area? Would you trade your week in Maui ( we probably won't get there that year since I have limited time off of work)

His sister and her husband will probably join us, so staying in a timeshare as apposed to a hotel will likely be cheaper even if we rent instead of trade. If they don't join us, my sister might

thanks in advance

We enjoyed our stay at Wyndham Old Town Alexandria, RCI resort #5346, when we went to Washington, DC. It is near a metro stop and was very convenient.

I don't own a Maui week, but I thought it was well worth the exchange with a Kauai week we owned at the time.

National Harbor in Maryland is a new area in the process of being built that has hotels, restaurants, shops and residence condos. It is just across the Potomac from D.C. You can take the metro bus from area to subway and then into DC. Very easy although at first for new person leanring the system seemed a bit confusing but it really is not. We just did this in February and had a great time. There is a WYN. TS, but not sure how hard to get trade. We stayed at a Marriott Residence Inn with a "studio" but it was very large and the bedroom was separate from living area. Although no wall to separate the rooms the way the furniture is set up there are distinct areas. Also had a full kitchen. Also nice feature is M-Th from 5 -7 they have some kind of free food. On the refrigerator was a schedule of what was being served and many nights you could just eat dinner there. I was rather amazed at how much and how nice the free food was that they provided. Some nights less or just desserts, but plenty of restaurants available. Free breakfast also provided. There is also a pool and exercise room. During the winter pool is only open during the evenings on weekdays. We had the pool to ourselves then.

We plan on going back here again we enjoyed it so much.
