I'm SO glad this ended the right way.
You could buy resale club points to get the benefit level resale, so that would be 15,000 club points at anywhere between $4 and $7 per club point, including the MVC $3/club point (min $3k) and depending on whether you got through ROFR at between $1 and $4/club point. What could someone expect to get Chairman's club resale and where's the best deal regarding maintenance fees?
Thanks for all this information. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by retro a week? I'm assuming that's a process of converting it to points which that would be decent. You could buy resale club points to get the benefit level resale, so that would be 15,000 club points at anywhere between $4 and $7 per club point, including the MVC $3/club point (min $3k) and depending on whether you got through ROFR at between $1 and $4/club point.
Maint fees for club points for 2025 are just under $0.82/club point
Alternatively you could look into buying weeks resale and then either retroing them via the Vistana system or enrolling them via MVC. There are dozens of combinations you could use. Retroing seems to come out at $10k for the first week and $5k thereafter. MVC seems to work on buying an equivalent number of club points or a week direct, and you can get Hybrid bundles direct that can come out at around $8-9/club point equivalent.
What constitutes "best" depends a huge amount on how much time and work you are prepared to put in to putting the deal together and how you are going to use the ownership, whether you are going to go for all points usage, rent some out use weeks or exchange via II or a combination of them all. There isn't a 1 size fits all and if there were it would change regularly as the market changes and adapts to any distortion caused.
Once you read up on buying a resale Sheraton or Westin ownership, you will see the terminology "retroing" used to describe buying direct to bring the resale ownership fully into the system. In the MVC world its called enrolling the ownership. Thanks for all this information. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by retro a week?
