In 1978 my boyfriend at the time had this amazing album (yes, album:D) that was a fantastic rock opera version of HG Wells War of the Worlds. Richard Burton did the narrating and I fell in love with the guy because of his music lol.
Well there is a new version of one of the songs Forever Autumn and while it lacks the hard rock sound of the 80's I hope it attracts a new generation. Give a watch and I hope you like it as much as I do.

PS I typed out the liner notes many years ago and teach this unit to my lower academic English classes. Over the years it seems funny to hear the kids talk of the music as being old school:eek: Some like the retro beat and others just cringe. I tell them it is historical literature and they should know of it. I feel older every year. By the way this started out as cassette tapes (my husband would never let me take his original vinyl to school:eek:) and my son found it in CD form a few years ago on Amazon.

That is a very cool musical and video concept...much truer to the literature than any of the major motion pictures. Thanks for sharing the link! Btw is that Liam Neeson playing the protagonist?

Yes, that is Liam

If you go on you tube and enter War of the Worlds and Liam Neeson you might get another video of him narrating the opening words. I was impressed at how much of the original novel was used in the recording. The original recording unitlized some of the best talent in Britain at the time.
