Disney has a couple special activities that they reserve for 'grand gatherings'. one of them is being able to be on a boat in the 7 Seas Lagoon for the Magic Kingdom fireworks and other Peter Pan oriented stuff (my kids love peter pan and tinkerbell, etc.) Unfortunately, we only have 6 people in our party!

so it would great if we could meet up with another family in Disney so we can become a 'grand gathering' and do this activity.

another one is the 'Good Morning Gathering', which is breakfast at Tony's, the Lady and the Tramp themed restaurant in MK.

I hope to hear from someone, it sound like a lot of fun.

We're here now and are staying at Disney's Old Key West until the 20th. We will leave the parks at about 4:00 for home. Is that too early for the Grand Gatherings?

This is a great idea; however, we too will be leaving late afternoon Jan 20. We're from northern VA also, and I see you are using the 3 day school week for a vacation, but we opted for the 4 day school week.

Wow, this is a great idea!

I do not have a trip to Disney currently planned :)bawl:) but I'd love to do something like this in the future. I have yet to meet anyone from TUG -- I had a meet-up at Disney planned once, but got stood-up.

Just a heads-up -- those boat trips get booked up way in advance. However, there are sometimes cancelations. Also, if you go to www.disboards.com you may be able to find someone with a boat booked, that they want to share in order to cut costs. I have done this twice, and it was very nice.

well, maybe you can meet up with Rick and Cindy for your own Grand Gathering. :)

(and about missing school days, I didn't know any of that week was off. Now that I look, I see it on fcps.edu's calendar, but since out kids are elementary, only 1/26 is off. still, that helps.)

while my wife was talking to the disney event scheduling people, no one was saying it was booked up, just that we didn't have enough for a Grand Gathering.
